Thanks. I think my real issue is hard to Manual Focus / Focus AF confirm / Focus Mask in low light.
Today I was there at 5pm, nice light, easy to shoot.

Usually I don't have the luxury of going so early...

You could have moved a little after the focus confirm, resulting in the slight OOF shot.
Or if you try to be there at 4.55 pm, rest 5 mins, & shoot at 5pm, you might have a sharper shot...............:think:

its the cat moving. . . i am so still, got a cat lost patience and invited itself to a cuddle on my arm. while i am shooting the other cat! lol.

i like how the Nikkor feels even on a canon body. Nice smooth to MF with.

i feel that flash will annoy the cats and affect their behavior, good try though

They are curious about my soft box . They did not seem that annoyed though. I fluffEd a shot where the cat was totally staring at it. Very cute look, hehe

Personally, i love natural light more. Better colors and feel.

Good try with the softbox wai but personally I would not fire a flash on the kitty. They have pretty sensitive eyes esp in the dark. It's like your lens wide opened & you used a very slow shutter speed & you get an overly exposed shot, blinding rite?

#43 Fluffed shot. (was shooting in AV instead of M while doing strobist, ended up in a long exposure of 25 seconds! (ISO 100 @ F8 LOL )

i always warn the kitties of flash whenever I am about to fire. I think they understand...or at least they don't protest or run away. nice kitties.

no la, front curtain flash burned the cat into sensor, then i kind of moved the camera around trying how to figure out how to stop the exposure...hence all the flashy lines around...
