Shipping horrors

Called Vpost, turned out that they put the guitar in a crate that weighs 12kilos-.- So I pay 110 for something that I'm don't need and am probably going to throw away. Anyone need a 120x50x10 box to store stuff? Selling at 30 bucks!!

well, its your duty to check with the seller what is the shipping box size and weight. vpost do not pack additional weight onto your goods......... its the seller that packs the entire package to be sent to vpost usa.

vpost charges by actual weight or volume weight (whichever is higher).

if you are not happy with the way they charge, you can always chose to ship direct to Singapore w/o using vpost.

Apparently the merchant does NOT ship directly to Singapore.

Will send Amazon a letter, thanks.

i order stuff from Japan and ship via vpost, the next thing i knew? the whole package is gone....

nv ship via vpost anymore.

Holy smokes. Did the order cost a lot?

I bought a pair of sneakers and the shipping cost $60. My cousin bought a pair of boots which is way heavier than mine, it cost $37 only! A friend of mine bought a jacket and the shipping cost more than $100! Damn the volumetric weight! :sticktong

Never use vpost unless the merchant don't ship to Singapore. I hope your guitar arrived safe and in a flawless condition. :)

please guys, vpost isn't that bad. you all must consider the shipping industry as a whole.

generally, it is never cheap to ship or send things by air freight. if you don't believe, go look at fedex, ups, dhl etc. all the giant freight companies, they charge a hell lot as well..haha. and when i ship dvds, vpost is uber cheap. when i buy a lot, i get one season of serial for 40 bucks. great deal. i ship like 9 seasons of shows at once..haha. they pack it into a box, that's it. i mean, how do you expect to receive it?. in a plastic bag ah?.lol.

for me, i always check the shipping charges and calculations very carefully before buying. buying online can be more expensive sometimes but way cheaper at other times. if you are looking at buying branded stuff and all, it can be a lot a lot cheaper online. for eg, ralph lauren is loads cheaper.. so always calculate and see if it works in your favour. don't rule out online shopping. it's super good at times..

on volumetric weight, yeah it is killer but as i said, the whole industry is like that..not vpost's fault..why do you think you pay so much when you have overweight luggages..they are a chopper industry la..but you can work around it one...

I ordered stuff online, but i go the carrier to deliever direct.

GMAN

No Amazon Prime? There's suppose to be free shipping for certain items... When I ordered my guitar from Amazon (that's shipped within the States), I had free shipping, and they packed it in a big paper box... I've not tried overseas shipping though.

overseas is a new ball game:sweatsm:

me kana also.

bought this Kata bag for USD 75... but after packing... a less then 2kg bag suddenly weighs a few times more! and i was charged $80+SGD for shipping!

then i email amazon @$@#$W@W@ in the end, they refund me 60+USD. whew! :)

Wow your item now cost less.

So lesson learnt... make a lot of noise if you feel that it not a fair deal!

whew! that's horrible! yeah that's actually frightening ;(

For States some of the items come with free shipping, but overseas shipping is the killer ha

Vpost is a good concept for consumer but run by some of the most stupid and unflexible people.

another way is to play dirty... request for a chargeback from your bank if amazon dun do refund partially.

Tell me about it. Want to ship a camera from europe to sg which will probably weigh 1kg, costs $300 for ups/fedex. Sian man. ;(

so call amazon and vpost partner... with no brain.

aiya, no use complaining la, it is an industry wide practice to charge killer rates, we just have to be careful and not be so naive. afterall, they are sending things half way across the world for you..come to think of it, it is only a fraction of your air ticket right..lol. so just BE CAREFUL when you want to ship stuff, never been cheap and never will be. one polo tee cost 11 pounds to ship, and that's like the cheapest, takes a goodweek or two. and it is just in a plastic bag kinda envelope. so when you want to ship a whole guitar, it gonna cost a bomb, and guitars are fragile. but if you have someone overseas to carry back from usa, guitars are way cheaper there, like the taylors and gibsons.haha.
