hurhurhur

no really, no kidding. Just don't send the ones with skinny legs splashing all solo first. And be alert.

Any of you guys have a GPS with topo map ?

I crossed that bridge before during my Scout's day in secondary school in the 80s.
The water level was up to my waist level as I was standing on something maybe like concrete and you need to use your foot to feel it. If you miss it you will go deeper.
Better waterproof your camera set.

Bro,

Which Scout troop ? I did that too in the 80s with my Scout troop.

River crossing reminds me of my army river crossing locally and overseas. :bsmilie:

I'm interested to go - but for the wrong reasons :bsmilie:

Have done plenty of this kind of "ulu ulu" photography before liao.. this time will be to bash through the jungle. Long time no play liao

Urm, last man out will remove the tape during extraction what.. or you didn't practice that during NS? :embrass:

True this really helps alot but i won't consider it litter but encourage to do so.
Instead of throwing on the ground, tie on the tree with a marker indicating the arrow of direction.
It can benefit others for future visit too. MOST IMPORTANT if really got lost, ranger will be easily to track where you guys been to or able to back track 90 degrees from the arrow direction

I only have my reliable compass from my army days. Been thru Brunei jungle with it.

i think the organiser should have.. for the saf style of map indicating contours, relief etc i think its not easily available?

any oldtimers can shed some insight as to what topo was like b4 gps? 8)

without compass, can lookout for the southern cross stars in the skies late at night also mah...

Is google maps good enough... of course, have to print a lot of pages..

Did a check on Google and Yahoo map base on location info 1.3483, 103.8123, The easiest way in is by the golf course, Sime Road.

Map here

but golf courses are usually not accessible to the public. :dunno:

saw the google map and not a good idea of bring that along cause you cant see the contour of the area clearly its covered by trees

Topo map of SG is under SAF classification of CONFIDENTIAL.

We won't be able to find any maps to access the area..
But based on google map, we can actually plot a route into the MGR from a chosen entrace location..

Someone needs to be very familiar with his pacing though to actually get there... but this is Singapore.. terrain is quite easily so won't get lost on your way out.. finding the almost covered shrine though, is a different thing altogether.. From the maps, seems to be hidden within a vegetated area.. I was hoping there is a canopy opening :embrass:

Im in for this!!
