I crossed that bridge before during my Scout's day in secondary school in the 80s.
The water level was up to my waist level as I was standing on something maybe like concrete and you need to use your foot to feel it. If you miss it you will go deeper.
Better waterproof your camera set.

this sounds interesting... Bashing through forest is not easy need a parang just in case of any obstructions, long sleeve & thick glove in case of thorn branches, a cap will be nice and insect repellent. Compass will have to use a better one and do consider of some interference to the readings I believe the organiser do have a few well versed guys on topo skills so good luck !! Remember to post some interesting findings over there

been there some years back. no need to get wet.. there is a route to it, not that i can recall off-handedly.. will probably recall when i am there..

the wet way is shorter if u have to get out in a hurry..
do prepare for this option, even if you don't intend to use it..

We are going the non-wet way. lols. the WET way is CRAZY, been there that way before. I swear its worse than spec training, lol..

so any commandos coming? LOL.

I don't want to risk the wet way even at night, its too dangerous, we will be using reflective cordon, and tactical torches / flood-light to get out of the place... if got GPS even better. for medical emergency we can probably get out of the place within 1 hour.. we also have means to signal for rescuers..

don't worry, your equipment won't be wet. but do bring a Zip-Lock bag to secure electronic stuff.

It rained the other time when we going the wet way, so you can imagine wet up to our knees, plus wet due to the heavy rain ( though the canopy sort of shielded quite abit of the rain ). so do bring ponchos too.

The other time I went, we did "forest-bashing" with no path, we entered thru' the swampy grounds. ; it was terrible even with a parang.. and guess what, we only brought GPS.. and we got lost because the gps went low-batt. we searched for compass ; nobody brought. we had to back-track based on the cordon tapes ( which we laid halfway also ). The forest bath is horrible, we had to climb over fallen trees and stuff, because that was during monsoon season. Moral of the story is be prepared. Yup long sleeve is very impt, else can get many scratches on each hand due to thorny vegetation. Cap is good, and even gloves would be helpful.

Yes, you are right to call this a walk, because the path is almost all out for you already.

It will last around 2 hours, since this is a group going.

This is much easier than the other "methods" which really almost "killed" us.

The other paths are super chaotic. The distance is shorter, but the terrain is siao.

I'm not sure if we need a recce, will update again. It will be 2 hours in, and 2 hours out.

If any emergency, we will split to get the person out within 1 hour ( hopefully )..

haha no need commando.. those who from sispec is enough since they have been through a few topo training around but provided the individual must be well versed in their topo skills too otherwise might spent maybe half a day or longer to reach or worse get lost. I'm from sispec and got lost before for few mins while topo at tekong due to disorientated so the feeling is not good haha.

Best is you guys able to get a GPS, write down the MGR (coordinates) at the "entrance" before entering, align map to compass to determine where the escape route is facing in case lost can head towards that direction & heading direction as well, do some markings on the map to indicate your spot then plan your route to go in.

I might be interested to tag along.. wont be bringing any photo equipment though. wanna check out the place but I won't camp over.. so I can bring the guys out too if they need..

I'd recommend those who never do these kinda walk before to bring enough water, and an extra dry top/clothing if you're staying over.. pre dawn dew + rain can be alittle too much to handle for those inexperience peeps~

And organiser can also bring some heat pack just in case..

AS for water proofing equipment, can use ziplock or a few large trashbag.
