As far as smiling is concerned, taking these shots like these, we need to make the model as comfortable as possible, so smiling is one way of course. But a lot of times in fact all the time, shooting models is a mental exercise in terms of framing, lighting, composition etc. As this was shot at only one location, so I did not lug my gear around too much and the mental exercise was still manageable. But when you have a outdoor location and you move, that is when the physical and mental exercise begins to kick in. So smiling becomes an exercise in itself. But when you have a good model to work with, like Hazel, then it is something different altogether.
She is a very good model to work with and very natural, so as far as working with her goes, it is something that I think everyone who went for Ejun's session will agree it was a fun learning experience.
