Well, I didn't took any tour, it's basically a self tour with my GPS. I was lucky to be able to speak local dialect, got in as a local. If I got in as a foreigner, they will slash me with rediculous prices. Nah I did not bargain, but they did asked me where am I from and I said KK :p

As for mine, I have an old man who guide me to view this flower, however I expected a greater size :p Guess I was wrong, will Post the pics soon. Just came back yesterday and have not done anything to them yet.

Nah I did not visit any Filipino BBQ at night, however I did visited the Filipino market behind Le Mediden hotel. Where is this Filipino BBQ place? Is it in town?

Craving for the food? I was shocked when I asked about the price of food there. When I was there 3 years back, the food there is not as expensive, but now, it's really expensive. Even car rental prices increased. I used to be able to rent a Kancil at RM50 now it is RM 70. But next trip that I drive up, I'm going to rent a Wira, my Kancil's brake smoked on my way down from KK Park. Drove up all the way to the starting gate for climbers :p

When you plan to go? Maybe can organize something?

Oh you went as local... no wonder the 'special' rate... heehee.

The Filipino BBQ is just somewhere around behind Le Meridian between Filipino market and central market.

My friend, everywhere in the world, prices would have gone up in 3 years! It's called inflation!

Yup, car sharing is more economical. I'm flexible. The next time, I wanna do the trek to the pinnacles in Mulu National Park in Sarawak, but I may drop by KK a few days since it is one way to get to Miri. I can also fly from Johor though. My trip planning and time depends largely on when I can get good deals on airfare, etc. :p Need to stretch my dollar. :sweatsm: Do you plan to go to other parts of Borneo besides KK?

Wow, the Rafflesia are impressive. Did it really stink that badly? How big were the ones that you saw?

Thanks for sharing.:)

Haha I am local of Msia :p I'm Sarawakian, from Kuching, so with a little bit of Malay language, I can pass for a local. Trip to Mulu is indeed nearer to Miri, I'm very familiar with Miri, and Mulu I have not been there, so don't mind going. I'm open to suggestion on where you want to go around Borneo though. I can be the local person to get deals. Well I am planning on budget too so maybe can take a look at Airasia or Jetstar for the next deals. Hehe

There Rafflesia that I saw is around 1.5m diameter. Posted a two day old Rafflesia at KK Labuan Trip. For 2 days it's not stinky but if you are close to a week old, it will be stinky, smell from both rotten 'food' and body of Rafflesia. They bloom for only a week then they will hibernate for another year before they bloom again.

Wahhh! So big!!!
The one I saw wasn't so big... maybe ard a meter.
It wasn't stinky too... prolly just bloomed.
I wanted to smell the stinky... hehe. Though that would be hard to take photos with it... too smelly. Is the smell very strong?

Haha you will be surprise, for the love of photo, you will be able to bear with the smell :p

8 is sensational! now the mystery, is she facing you or is she looking towards the seascape?
I wanna go KK , haiz always no time and company.

She was wading along the shoreline, facing the sea:bsmilie:

Tanjung aru beach is great place to shoot sunset :)

Nice pics of the Mamutik / manukan islands. I was there many many year ago and looks like the island still the best it can be.

I find #8 tooo orange (too saturated too)... to a point that it looks fake.
I've never in my life seen a sunset so orange before.
It is also kinda a little boring with 90% of the picture being the same orange with very little variant tones.
The clouds and the composition does make a pretty good picture though, colour aside. :)

The photo was taken with the setting sun fairly high over the horizon. This one below was taken just before it went down the horizon. The colour and hue change with every second. Maybe you prefer this one...:)

I do prefer the colours on this one, though would be better with slightly more saturation.
And the leaves totally spoil the photo... would be good if leaves are not there and include more of the sea. :)

Thanks for your comments. The reason I included the leaves was to give perspective to the image, otherwise with just the seascape I think the picture would appear 'flat'. I suppose this is a personal interpretation but I do like the colours better than the earlier scene. :bsmilie:

Love your setset shots , esp #8..is breath taking.. :)
