if you are so worry about it, please make a phone call to them and double check with them (CSC). I would love to know too since I bought my camera from DD
There are many camera workshops in local, there is no worry at all.
Sorry I'm a newbie. But I just saw the canon 16-35mm f2.8 ii going for $1415 at DDe. Is this for real? It's like 60% off the rrp
koppite said:Hi, make sure you click on the "local site" tab. Most likely the one you saw is in USD. If only $1415, there will be a queue in DDE today already :bsmilie:
Well, I believe Canon will service your grey set with a fee of course.. If not just switch system as it does not make sense..

DD price is indeed very attractive, about 15-20% lower than local distributor for the set i am intending, really tempting ;p
Yup, of course I don't recommend to switch system and the idea has not come across my mind. I have a couple of lens from overseas and I am confident Canon would still service my overseas set.
niccon2 said:but you have offical receipt & warranty paper (to identify distributor source) so not an issue to buy lens from offical overseas distributor. but buying from local parallel importer is something I am trying to clarify.
if any purchasing source csc also accept, hehe..then really tempting  for me to take up canon system and buy from local parallel importer instead of flying to hk or seeking my hk friend to buy for me and ship here with about 1k of GST and freight/insurance charges combined.
thinking about getting the 24-70L from them since its about SGD $1780 pay with cash thus the 2% discount from $1815. That means even with a B+W filter i still save about $100+ compared to street pricing which is very tempting. Just got 2 concerns/questions I would like to ask:
1. First one is about the shop warranty and what happens after that. I understand got shop warranty for 1 year and it doesn't look like they will close down anytime soon but would like to ask if anyone has experiences with sending their faulty stuff back under warranty and what the shop does about it?
2. Also my next concern is after the warranty ends, does anyone knows canon service center accept the lens for fixing/servicing taking into account like all other out of warranty items, have to pay for it?
Thanks in advance![]()

My 5D and 24-70L is also grey set, but no problems servicing it at CSC. Of course there will be charges. I think after the 1 year is up, canon does not care where your set is bought from, as long as you are willing to pay for the servicing...
I have a few Canon lens which I bought from US, HK and even Malaysia which have been serviced by CSC after the warranty end. Unless they changed the rule recently, if not it should be ok. By the way, I didn't even show any document.
