This rapid-flying Rapala is the largest in the genus in Malaysia and Singapore. The species is forest dependant and is only encountered in the nature reserves. It has a rapid flight and a habit of settling on the underside of leaf to rest.

It is occasionally seen but seldom photographed due its skittish nature, as it has a wide safety radius, which post a great challenge to butterfly photographers attempting to approach it without scaring him off. This individual was an exception as he was engrossed in feeding on the flowers of the Spicate Eugenia.
