Thanks for the sharing. I am wondering if the flash will hurt the eyes of the butterfly, any idea?

I am none the wiser on it ....... it is like asking whether camera flash will hurt our eyes!:)

....but the make up of the eyes of butterflies are entirely different from the human eyes and they varies from species to species ,

...... so we will need an insect eye specialist to do a thorough research to answer that question.:)

i can never figure out how uncle sunny gets so many open wing shots..

found a blue nawab last wkend, but was unfortunately configured for airshow performances, so telephoto, no flash.


is that its sac in the bottom right?

Yes, the white balance was off....too much blue. i have reworked the photo with more accurate colours.

v beautiful and detailed shots of the Besta Palm Dart, Sunny.

perhaps slightly more diffused lighting in pic 2 to soften the shadows?

Yes it would have been better if the light was more diffused , but could not help it , it was under the mid day sun!!!
