Yes, the "vibrance" is pretty awesome. Other than that it's a great shot! :thumbsup:

Tried Nikon V1 with pancake 10mm f2.8 lens this week in Melbourne and quite happy with results

The Kingfisher looks soft to me... don't mean to criticize, but good spotting this. This is similar to my experience using the 55-200mm VR/FT1/V1, most shots closer than 5m were not sharp.

I find that the quality of the lens is really critical, and shots done using AFS 300mm f/4D, AFS 105mm f/2.8 Micro are very nice. I used AFS 35mm f/1.8G DX as a portrait lens and it wasn't too bad either.

Thank for the comment. Agree on the quality of the lens is critical.

55-300 mm is not a good lens, but a basic entry len (low cost). Under low light condition, the AF is almost failed to work, have to use MF.

min 70-300mm. AFS 300mm f/4D is ideal for 300mm birding.

Good try nevertheless. Will try the V1 on the 300/2.8 in Vietnam a few weeks from now to see how it turns out.

Nikon 1 excels for Action and not too bad for the occasional artistic shots too.

All my shots were taken with J1 and either the 10-30 or 30-110 kit lens.
