Ten Colors images with a Pre-war lens.
Today i wanted to test the 50/f2 Leitz Summar lens.
According to the serial number registry, this lens was
made in 1938 and uncoated. Early uncoated lens are
full of character and aberrations such as flare and coma,
resulting in blurry images which are unsharp and
low in contrast. Since most images produced by modern
cameras and lenses are sharp and clear but ultimately
look very similar, this 1938 lens should provide some
interesting images.
True to its character, the images are low in
contrast and saturation, colors are muted but seem
to be a bit on the warmer side.Post-processed
with a bit of added contrast the images are
pretty interesting.
This is an underrated and often ignored lens. It is cheap
but hard to get a decent sample.
(Technically, these images was captured on the Leitz Summar
lens on the Epson R-D1 at ISO 800 - 1600. The images were
post processed by adding contrast and a simple white
border, and off coss resized for web viewing)
