this one is superb. I thought microphen was for fine grain?

i took a page out of Ralph Gibson, overexposed + overdeveloped = Dense Negative.

For RG, he would pull back in the darkroom, the c0mbination of tr-x + rodinal would result in a sharp negative with lots of details.

For Me, what I got was a low contrast but dense negative at 1+3 dilution, I then used PS' curves to increase contrast and in the process, all the grains came out...

ps. not having a light meter means that I tend to overexpose the images.
My development at room temperature tends to over develop the film.
So... most of my images tend to be Over-Over.

Sharing a couple of RF shots on a recent trip. Shot either with 35 Summicron or 50 Summilux. This is the first time shooting full time RF and loved every minute of it!

It was summer time, and the seats are all laid out waiting for people to sit and enjoy the sun. Shot this in Velvia 50 back last June somewhere south of San Francisco.

A few more shots... One I posted before, but now rescanned with my Plustek

Yeah man. The Plustek delivers the goods and that leaves me happy. I can now make out the license plate on the truck in the picture with the surfer!

can I bug you to scan one of your B&W pics, at a resolution above or equal to 2400 in 8 bit ?

i want to examine it and compare it against my v600.

only if you have time...

thanks

ps. let me know if you can upload to a file place for me to download. tqtq

I always scan in 16bit mode -- this is a must if you want good scans. 8 bits is just not enough, from personal experience. Once you do the inversion from negative to positive, you loose a lot of information in 8 bits.

take a look at this --

Trix 400 xtol1+1 5min 29c 26.jpg | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

scanned at 3600 dpi, single pass. Note that this was shot on a c-sonnar wide open, at about 1/4 sec. All makes for a blurry shot, but I was surprised how crisp it turned out to be.

You can download the large size from the flickr link, which is 3600 pixels on one side. Most of the pictures on my flickr site are scanned using the same technique -- pick any one you like :)

How do you open a 16bit B&W file though? Photoshop couldn't.

Anerjee: disabled downloading lah... :) u got a website for me to download your 3600 16bit file or not ?
