Voigtlander Prominent Mount Nokton 50/f1.5

I was thinking of plunging into the sea of digital M, until I scan this roll of APX that was taken by my vintage Prominent mount 50/f1.5, which is more than 50 years old...

And I fell in love with film all over again...

very nice color! M9?

Nope. M8. ;p

Though I wished it was a M9. Then the photo below will be 3m long in print size. It's 1.6m now. 4 stitched. Does take a bit of effort to adjust the White Balance of all 4.

Will fix up the corners before printing.. ;p

I do not think you will like M9. Digital M is a very different experience from analogue M. It does not feel the same. Digital feels very cheap thrill, very quick fix, very robotic, very mass production. Analogue is where the craftsmanship is, to use terminology from Erwin Puts' essay on this precise topic of Professionalism (digital) v Craftsmanship (analogue). I am compelled to work harder, and exercise more tact when composing with film. Film is forever!

I do not deny M9 is more convenient. I use my M9 where speed of development and convience is needed. But if its up to me being creative, i use my M4. Film gives satisfaction in a way you cannot get from digital. 1 well shot frame from film is more fulfilling than 1 gig of digital pics no matter how much postprocessing is done. I just do not get the sense of wonder with digital in the way i get from film

He told me his name but I couldn’t hear him above the rattling jackhammers.
Like any good Singaporean I nodded, smiled and pretended like it was the coolest name I’ve ever heard.
All I know is that he’s from Bangalore, and that I have him to thank for the new sheltered walk-ways in my estate.

He sat there quietly - unperturbed by the passing crowd - furiously scribbling into his grimy stack of papers.
Old people are cool, because having been tempered by decades of experience, they no longer care what anyone thinks of them and simply do as they please.
