Thanks. Will try to scan more pics. Great pics from your GRD. Now am thinking whether to get the GRD instead or GR1? Since I have the GR10 and no compact digital cam.

Speaking of Film Point-n-shoot... Any good models to recommend?

Natura Classica?
Klasse S?
Vivitar?

Completely, unfamiliar with this. Sorry to OT.

Olympus mju II, plastic,35mm f2.8, cheap and goo.
Ricoh GR1s, titanium, 28mm f2.8, not cheap and very good.

After Halong Bay, we went Sapa...

miu II. It was the only camera I brought along for my honeymoon back in 2001.

Those who have been to Sapa, wouldn't have missed this building... but I'm not sure whether they have torn it down now...

Yes. It is so good that I actually bought a second one after my wife lost it in HaErBin in 2002.

But the second one I bought was made in China. The first one I had was made in Japan. Nevertheless, it's still a good camera.

Sharing some more pics from my old stack of negatives...

Sapa, Sunday market 2001. Not sure whether it's still the same now...

Thanks for your kind words... The subjects are happening what's why pictures are interesting.

Point & Shoot is actually very nice to use. Especially one do not need to take into consideration of exposure and focusing. What one needs to do is compose and press the shutter.

The film point and shoot do not usually have those shutter lag that current digital cameras have. And the focusing is much faster. At least on the mji II, there is a cross hair in the centre that tells you that is the AF spot. Current digital PnS too smart and can intelligently guess the face of the subject. But most of the time, that's not what you want. I kind of give up digital PnS.

I miss those days where we just carry the small little mju and pack and go. Sometimes when I was on business trips, I didn't even bring along camera. I just bought those disposable camera at the airport and surprisingly, pictures turn out better than some that I took with the SLR. And needless to say, better than current digital PnS.

Today, where technology advances so fast, even mobile phones take great picture. I printed out a 4R family vacation photo taken with iPhone and no one could guess it was taken by a mobile phone. I can't wait to see what iPhone 4 can do....

I guess this is out side a theatre. Srono, can you please translate the words on the board?

These ladies really have strong teeth. They can chew the sugar crane just like that!

Their dressing is actually much more vibrant that you see on this photo. The negatives have been kept for 9 years and I guess the colour shift and fading...

Nevertheless, this is one of my favourite picture from the trip.

Sapa is really a nice place, but too bad, too many tourist these days and I think it's no longer what it used to be. When I was at the village, the 4 & 5 year old kids there spoke with PERFECT AMERICAN ACCENT.

These were some of the kids who spoke perfect English when we converse with them...

The Sunday market at Sapa is really one of a kind. I guess back in those places, they dress to their nines once a week and come out on Sunday morning.

For those who thinking of going to Hanoi, do plan to drop by Sapa over the weekend. Weekdays are not really advisable. The Sunday market is actually the highlight of the trip.

That was 9 years ago... I wonder whether it's still the same today....
