After a 6 month hiatus from photography, sold my RF and got myself a Yashica Mat, first foray into the wonderful world of MF

That's exactly what I was wishing I had. I started with 2 rolls of 120 Velvia 50, got too excited initially and made too many exposures on less impressive scenes. By the time I got to the "good stuff", I was down to 5 exposures so only took 1 shot for each location.

I will be traveling to Glacier National Park next week before it gets too cold and they close the roads, then up to Calgary and Jasper National Park. I have 15 rolls of 120 Velvia 50 in the mail so should be a little more prepared this time.

Here's an exposure made at Canyonland National Park. Can you see the 2 cars on the dirt road at the bottom of the frame? That's how impressive this place was. I think pictures don't do it justice.

can level till so sweet! Hmmm ... shld i draw horizontal & vertical lines on the focusing screen? :think:

That depends on how straight a line you can draw and if it's totally level there. Not to mention you'd probably damage your focusing screen. Not sure what camera you use but I think most MF cameras have the option of fitting OEM or 3rd party focusing screens with grids.

Again, this was a landscape shot so I had all the time to ensure I looked the frame over thoroughly before making the exposure.

how did you meter this scene?

My camera has a built in spot meter so I just held my palm out facing the sun, then placed it in zone 6. The deep reds of the canyon ended up metering somewhere around zone 4.25 which made me a little uneasy but I guess it turned out ok.

Hi,

I am in the middle of a road trip and just discovered that I brought 15 rolls of 120 film and only 1 x 220 (E24) back. Darn it! I have read that overlapping frames will not be a problem with this configuration, but I might lose the 12th frame. Others say 120 film in an E24 back is not an issue. Does anyone have first hand experience with this? I could do the conservative thing and lose the 12th frame but I would rather use it if at all possible. Thanks for your help.
