hi all
thanks for the comments. as pointed out by slacker - #7 is my favorite amongst the lot. the pic reflects the tense security state israel is in - the stark contrast between the solemn orthordox jew and the nonchalant soldiers adds a sense of despair and hope.

will add some new photos shorthly.

Great work dude!

Now where have i seen better photojournalistic shots?

err Time, Washington post, NYtimes?=)

One of the best series i've seen here...

How did you shoot the wailing wall!!! It is guarded by the military. M16 loaded with his 30 roads and side armed... I tried to videocam the last time i was there... what is your setup offspring? :) Maybe we could send a CS team to the middle east!! hehehhe.. Ron interested?? I remember walking Jerusalem, Palestinians selling wares one corner, Jew soldiers patroling with magazine in rifle housing, not like our guys magazine put in SBO.. gai gai around with unloaded M16s... the situation has always been tense around the Holy city. The sea of galilee and dead sea nice and sunny... when i was there it snowed!!! the sun's rays are quite interesting there.. keep having crossed shaped sun rays...over the desert. Jewish gals quite cute lei.. hehehhe snap snap...

Hey Jimmy,

Very well done!!!! Enjoyed tremendously.......must catch up one day to go photo shoot!

Regards
Jerry Quek

this is the best of anything i've ever seen the whole year in this forums, and probably, many more to come.

Really impressive. I am deeply impressed. =)

Amazing, the best I have seen

Simply amazing shots.

Thanks for sharing

SOLID shots.

Did you use a normal 35mm format camera? If so, you had to compose your pics with the elongated format in mind right?

They only allow photographers with Xpans and Leicas to take pics of the wailing wall?
:dunno:

Great shots. The Panaromic format really does make pics more dramatic.

excellent photos. I really really like them. The orientation, colour makes it all so dramatic and absorbing...

I am deeply impressed with your 2nd series of pictures on the Holy Land. Especially the pictures of the Wailing Wall. Number 24 has this sense of deep sadness with it.. yet with hope as the Orthodox Jews constantly ply the prayers onto a physical monument of their faith in reality. The sepia touch makes it feel like such an activity has been going on for ages and ages, which is also true.

My favourite picture here is picture number 21. Because the division between men and women is a strong reflection of what many countries and societies are still like today. Its a picture thats speaks to me "So near, and yet so far..."

I like the effect the sky gives to the building in picture 21. Yet at the same time, I do wonder how indeed, did you actually manage to take pictures at the Wailing Wall and grab that two shots with guns in them. Very strong points of pictures telling a story in one fell sweep.

Indeed, I aim to take photographs that tell a story similar to the way that you do. For now, I've saved your pictures to my computer, as a constant reference and for inspiration. Thank you.

those shots in the 2nd batch with the guns and soldiers is really a powerful reminder of peace is not free.
sorry to spoil the nice mood ard
