SGTrekker's 6D5N Hanoi Sapa Valley Photography Tour (19th - 24th May 2011)

Like what Lydia has described, the local hmongs were already stationed at our exit and ready to "market" their handicrafts to prospective customer.

Occasionally, you will encounter some really friendly folks who will smile for your camera. How can you say no to such warm hospitality!

We continued further with our trek after the lunch, this boy on the bright red bicycle really caught my attention as he is deeply focused with his ride.

The walk around the village was a short walk with stunning beautiful scenery along the way.

It was a short walk but yet full of endless photography opportunity. The first encounter with a hmong tribe people after lunch stop was this beautiful scene of her walking into the padi fields engulfed with mist.

There is a saying that you can experience all four season in Sapa and it is true. The weather quickly clears up and sun shining into the valley and open up a view that most of us never knew existed.

Throughout the trek, you will noticed that the locals disliked to be photographed in Sapa valley since all the photographs taken will only be published on the internet and not given to them. There will be exceptions ONLY IF you were to share your photos with them. This will certainly make them very happy since it is rare for them to have their own photographs.

** Reference to last year photos taken **
  • Notice the instant polaroid that "Chai" was holding? that is a very good way to bridge the gap between you and the locals.
  • Credits: limwhow, 2010 for the photo taken last year.

Melvin or Adrian (don't know who shot these), all the photos in back and white are nice. If I had to choose one, this will be it. Take another look at it again, it has depth. The picture is speaking to you.
