Share some pictures on the trip up to Tianmen Mountain.
Tianmen Mountain is regarded as the soul of Zhangjiajie and it is the first recorded mountain in the history of Zhangjiajie. The highest peak is around 1518.6 meters above sea level. The mountain is named after the natural huge cave half way up the mountain just like a gate to the heaven. Hence, it was named Heavenly Gate Mountain - Tianmen Mountian.

The notable features of the park are the pillar-like formations seen in the park. They are the result of many years of erosion and these formations are a distinct hallmark of Chinese landscape, which can be found in many ancient Chinese paintings.

Nice capture. Didn't know you were in the group also.

Hi Daoyin

Thanks. The scenery was great. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us.

Hope to meet you again in another trip.

Thanks for the extra photos. Glad to see someone still contributing for the rest of us to enjoy.

I like the one of the waterfall with the mist. It is not easy to capture the mist from the sky as it often gets blown out of details. Patience is lacking in many of us to sit around waiting for the proper moment to present itself.

Fenghuang is always nice any time of the year.
Zhangjiajie needs to plan the right time of the year to visit.

Its not as difficult as you say lah. Actually it is part of the man made (at least partially) waterfall below. There were wave after wave of tourists going to the stage have their pictures taken with the waterfall as background, so no choice but to take higher up.

It would also depend on your luck! Met a couple in a group that was going home as we were making our way there and they said that the weather was fine all the way. Met another friend arriving with another group as we were going back and he told me (when we met again in Singapore) that the weather was fine all the way. During the period we were there the sky was either dark and cloudy or raining except for the last day in Changsha. Just our luck!

Sharing some images from my recent trip to Zhangjiajie, Oct 2012.

Fenghuang Ancient Town:

Feng_Huang_Local_Delicacy_zps923e5993.jpg

A local "delicacy" no doubt...

Feng_Huang_Wedding_Couple_zps1cfb11e3.jpg

Credit goes to the local Wedding Photographer who set up the shot. Blocking the entire passageway in the process, with a line of 10 plus amused tourists like myself looking on. Couldn't help stealing a shot over the Photographer's head.

FengHuang_Boating_Couple_zps8ca89ee9.jpg

This couple were just chatting away thru the canopy without the slightest knowledge of this kaypoh tourist snapping away.

Feng_Huang_Night_2_zpsb0890c68.jpg

Went back to Fenghuang Ancient Town again after dinner. The lights were beautiful. Couldn't stand the stench of cigarette smoke and "Fragrant" Tofu in the night air though. Sadly, did not stay long.

Feng_Huang_Night_1_zpsf0ff4cf3.jpg

I kind of like this particular shot. There's the young couple having a quite dinner, three young girls taking a group shot, some guys snapping away at the opposite river bank, guy chatting up a lady at the bar....
