Ang Moh easier to catch :)

He may just breeze through our customs and immigration like so many ang mohs do, and now may be sipping cocktail at Patpong like other farangs.

Surely SG uses dye packs or maybe not? Look for guy with purple hands...lol

He is probably staying in that triple tower place I bet.

Stupid people everywhere...

You watch too much movies bro...

I am sure all tellers have SOP for such incident. No point risking life of bank teller. Camera and silent alarm would have been activated. If not then $30k should be enough to fit out the bank with such simple features hahaha

You are right on this. Corporate policy is that top priority is given to safety of staff and customers. Tellers are trained what to do in such situations. They are not to resist, confront or fight with robbers, heroic actions to prevent the robbery is not encouraged. They just activate the hidden silent alarms directly connected to the Police. Main action and focus is to protect lives not so much the money. Lives lost cannot be replaced, money lost can be claimed from insurance. No teller will call the bluff as to whether the robbers are armed or not. 30K is peanuts to a bank :)

Banks here don't use such stuff. But there is what is called bait money in the tellers cash, probably handed over to the robber.

Expect more such "withdrawals" then, now that the SOP is so clear - and obviously clearly adhered to.

Such policies have been in place for 3O over years, based on thorough risk assessment in our local environment. You can try your luck provided you got the guts and your luck hold. Remember that such crimes call for the death penalty if firearms are used even if its pointed at someone but not discharged. Or a long staycation at Changi with rotans to be relished. Even if no firearms or fake ones are used the mere act of threatening someone to put that person in fear of death carries an extremely heavy punitive sentence. Moreover, there are high resolution surveillance and our little red dot is so small, where can you hide. Maybe better to rob goldsmith or pawn shops, they got no guards, but then they may not have such policies :)

That's assuming the police can catch him. At this point, still dunno.

SG humor for this robbery
These are some funny comments that I saw on the internet

1) The bank only have $30K, no wonder the bank cannot afford to hire a security guard :bsmilie:

2) The stupid newspaper should report $8 millions robbed. The robber's accomplice will turn him in :bsmilie:

3) The robbery is the result of Brexit. The robber want to exchange more SGD for pounds :bsmilie:

4) This year Standard Charter Run 1st prize will be a packet of tissue paper :bsmilie:

5) Malaysian laugh at Singaporean, you guys are so sua ku 山龟. Never see bank robbery before, we have many bank robberies in Malaysia every year :bsmilie:

Apprending the culprit is a separate matter, in the hands of the police. Important thing is no one was killed or injured in the incident.

At least he got his money, there was an unfortunate incident some year's back also but an attempted bank robbery near
Beauty world. The security guard shot dead robber with gun.He was praised by police but subsequently
news reported that the gun was a toy gun. Then no more reporting.:embrass:

Edit: Sorry I think it was a finance company.

only the dead see the end of the world.
at least he don't need to worry about money anymore.

The police are looking for an Australian suspect. I believe they already knew the suspect's name but they don't want to publish the name yet.

Ang moh robber caught in Bangkok. Exclusive in this evening's Shin Min Daily.

Surprised at how he can get out of the country so easily after such a high profile case.

The assumption that SG is so small and if commit crime sure will get caught as no where to hide is tested once again and falls short. First Mas Salamat and now this.
