but as bro johnston and i found out recently, both our 7Ds behave differently even with the same settings and lens.

Very true indeed. Was checking with bro BC during the studio shoot and he mentioned that even if same cam model, set at same setting, same lens used, will still produce diff results. This really set me thinking. Can any bro explain why huh?

How different is it ? Using the same filter as well ? Same focus point ? Just wondering...:dunno:

you've got to see it to believe it. the colour temp was just way off in terms of comparison.

Yes, I witnessed that too. Not sure what caused it though.

i always have trouble getting the right settings when i try to convert the RAWs to Jpeg:bsmilie: the photos often turn out not wat i expected

in that case, try shooting raw+jpg for awhile. you can use the jpg as a reference file for adjusting your raw. when you get more confident with your raw processing then you can drop the jpgs lor.

it may seem weird to shoot raw then refer to a jpg. but after you match the jpg colours, saturation etc, the raw will still have some advantages, e.g more leeway in terms of exposure/dynamic range, slightly better resolution and noise control.

Can post the 2 image ? Very curious.

Post the question to SONY at the coming meetup, see what they say, or can redo experiment again there.

did you check for outdoor shot? maybe it because the flash, some flash arent stable.. the cri (you can google for it) isnt stable..

Nope, we didnt do any outdoor shots. But as we were in a studio, we are using the same strobe, not using our attached or external flash. So dont think its due to the flash thingy.

all the parameters were identical, only diff were the cam bodies, though both 7d.

using diff lens?

the only possible answer..:devil:either one of yr camera spolit liao

7D: Aperture priority, sharpness +1, ISO 400. Flash 0, EV 0. Last 3 parameters adjusted according to light levels and available aperture/ shutter speed. jpeg extra fine, noise reduction on, anti-shake on, spot metering, focus, review off.

Is using Extra Fine and Fine a big difference? Cause I always used Fine to save memory space.

i last flipped through the manual ages ago, but i recall the resolution is different. if your pics are for 4R prints or webpages it should be fine, but 8R should use at least extra fine, if not RAW. crop here crop there, resolution lost...

OIC, thanks! Will use extra fine for important shots from now on and see if I can tell the diff.

always good to shoot in higher res, leaves you with a lot more freedom and room to crop. CF cards are getting a lot cheaper nowadays too. :)

same settings but different metering points can also produce diff outputs, no?
