i dunno. but, after going online to iomega and asked their tech support online, they traced the problem to the firewall. so, once i found out my hdd's IP address and added into zonealarm as a 'trusted' IP, my PC and laptop can see the drive. right now, i'm backing up my pics.

i was thinking between netgear's SC101 home NAS setup and iomega. ended up with iomega 160GB cos it already comes with a hdd. the netgear's dun come with hdd, but over at PK computers, they have a bundle offer. u might wanna check it out cos u can put 2 hdds in it as a failsafe. the iomega has only 1 hdd, so i still have to backup on CDs/DVDs.

iomega external hard disk? how much ah

despite the plug-and-pray setup, the thing i like the iomega over the netgear version is becos of the smaller footprint. :)

Oh yeah, it needs a power supply too. Network's not an issue as my router still has 3 more available ports.

Nope, don't like devices that draws power from ports to run, I normally try to avoid using external devices like these as it can kill the board over long run.

Hmmm can't decide what to buy now...

its actually more worth it than getting the netgear's SC101. cos, by the time u get the bundled offer, it might cost more cos of the separate hdd. the sc101 is good tho, if u want failsafe. if my iomega goes kaput.... :faint:
