Good question .... i have yet to shoot my colleague smoking ... :think: .... slow shutter so u can get the smoke drifting effect? :dunno:

are u going to shoot against a brightly lit background? becos if u are, u must take a meter reading against the background or else the smoke will be lost thru over-exposure.

2 ways - slow shutter will give u a-la river flowing like of scene. the smoke trails should be more dense and 'cotton-like'. fast shutter will freeze the motion and give u more .... wats the word... thin smoke trails?? i dunno how to describe. u have to try it out to see. not easy sia... best u can do is to use ur 300Ds's AEB function. set, mebbe, +/- 1/3 to 1/2 stop and try.

I also wanna try shooting fire! Like shooting into those bins where chinese burn e joss paper!!

Any smokers can blow circular loops of smoke to help us out in shooting?? Tat will be quite nice!

should be quite fun! try temples? esp now with CNY ard the corner, sure got opportunities to shoot smoke. i guess the best way to get the right exposure is to bracket. 300D/10D/20D can. don, 7D got bracketing function?

the joss paper burning one will have lots of smoke instead of fire.
