Sensor cleaning

Hi,

I just did some sensor cleaning (using Eclipse) on my equipment.

No problem for my DX & FX body.
But on my Panny GM5,
no matter how many times i swab,
the cluster of few dots on the image hardly move.
(you see the same pattern of dusts on all the test shots, it might offset slightly if the FL is different)

This is the 2nd time wet cleaning the GM5.
On my previous attempt, the same thing happen.

The 'dust' just refuse to bulge.
(previously i sent in to panny for cleaning)

Like to know if there is any special precedure for mirrorless,
or there's anything i'm missing ?
Or is it possible for the dust inside the lens interior to show when doing 'dust shots' ?

Basically, i just power OFF, remove lens and swab the sensor,
before putting on the lens and taking another white shot for review.
(F16, Focus at infinity, shoot at LCD plain text file)

Thanks

When you send to panny for cleaning the previous time, did they manage to clean it off?

Perhaps the stubborn dust/stains require a stronger cleaning solution to swab off?

Hi,

Yes, the dust spots was removed by Panny.
Think they outsource the Servicing, have to made 2 trips & wait couple of days.

Beside Eclipse,is there other proven choice ?

On another note,
I bought a cheaper alternative swab from Amazon last year.

Cheaper than the Eclipse swab,
I use it with the Eclipse solution though.
Seems to work fine for my dslr.
Save the trouble of cutting the PecPac previously.

Rgds

Hi,

I had used Eclipse previously. After I ran out of swab, I bought VisibleDust's VDustPlus as they are available locally, it cost $30+ for a small vial plus 4 swabs. I don't know if this is more stronger though.

I too find cutting the Pecpac troublesome and so hard to ensure it's clean.

Last option is back to panny for cleaning. I know too well what a pain it is to make 2 trips to service centre :(

Yep, its a pain cutting the Pecpac.

At s$2/swab(16mm), if you need 5 swabs per body,
its only $10. A lot more reasonable.
Too bad this doesnt ship to SG.

Will check out my lens first,
Last resort is to bring it back.

Btw,
is it safe if you shine a small torch thru the front element,
and you try to check for any dust from the rear element.

Tks
