Senor Overheating during Camera Mode

lol that is true, singapore is really getting hotter.
but so far havent really hit it in singapore either.

maybe its the modes we set?
my basic a55 setting is set to 20sec sleep mode, AF-S, no smile shutter, no face detection, so far i can remember.

i cant frame/shoot with AF-C

Yup same. I turn off smile shutter, face detection etc. When I am on long exposures, i turn off steady shot as well.

slightly offtopic, but do you guys encounter such an issue like mine?
Manual mode, AF-S, lens set to AF, AF Focus Wide, no flash, aperture F3.5
taking close up of subject, sometimes no focus box appear or appears but upon depressing shutter it refuses to fire?
was unless i set lens to MF, that it allows me to take the shot?

I'll might get a a55 to try around during my usual hiking trips to compare with my a700.

My old trusty a700 never had any problems during my regular nature shooting trips that lasted from 7am till at times 4pm at times. That cam design to be robust anyway.

Anyway, I'm not spending $$$ to prove a point. Just that I have a new toy, 70-400G soon, couple with 10fps for BIF, sure shiok .

happened to me before...
as long as the camera can't focus on anything, it won't fire unless set to MF..

hmm.. not too sure, the lens min focus distance is 450mm.
quite sure the subject is further or around that range.
but with zoom.

the lens will have difficulty to focus if theres little contrast in the object that we are trying to shoot. one way is to lock focus and recompose.

Thats a common theme in macro, and macro shooters , will normally MF as a result

wow , you have the 70-400G :o

Definitely enticing to do 10fps with it =)

Apart from the A700, the A550 is a solid workhorse as well.

Cleared 1000 shots in 2 hours , no signs of overheat or loose pieces after that haha

Intent to wait for a77 (vapourware) actually but got vacation coming up.

Sorry for OT to TS.

1st things first..

how long have you been using the camera before the overheating message appeared?
and where did you use the camera?

anyways i think there's a thread somewhere regarding the overheating issue >.<

This is besides the topic but i can't help but start laughing when i saw your avatar pic Mr Kei1309. Lol, brought back memories from secondary school. hahahaha.:bsmilie:

45cm is measured from subject to sensor, not subject to lens. therefore if ur lens is 10cm long, u need to add it in (making it 55cm instead, for example).
