Start with getting a raynox maybe... it's only $125 (90 or less if you buy 2nd hand) and can attach to your kit lens.

Or ask the veterans here to lend you one.

Then decide if you want a macro lens.

It's not a must. you can if you want to. Macro lens also can crop. LOL.

Crop when you need it. Haven't really found a need to crop with 55-300. Just adjust the zoom.

Better if you join to see it in action for yourself before you go BBB.

I believe they're just resized. If you use a macro lens you'll see that the insect will take up most of the viewfinder. xD

Haha no worries, everyone starts from the same level. Almost every pic I post is cropped, to aid the composition and sometime to magnify the subject
