I guess in BnS, you never know what you are going to get. It may not even be 2nd hand in the first place. could be 10th, 20th, 30th hand and so on. Main thing is, if the price is good and you are ok after viewing the lens, just buy and shoot with it. If unsure, don't buy. :)

I even suspect there are some sellers who buy old lenses with unfilled warranty, then got lobang to find new dated receipt and sell as new.

一个愿打,一个愿挨。:dunno:

I think this is not possble... because the receipt will contains the serial number right?
I dun know .. because for new items, the shop I buy from always have the item serial number :)

cheers

Hmm, i think for these people, they got receipt from some shops which can key in the serial number manually. Hehe, when there is a will (to cheat), there is a way la. ;p

But i just suspect, don't flame me.

Not all shops will write the serial numbers down on their receipts... worse still, there are shops who do not itemize the items and the cost of each item. Normally shops that want to chop carrot would not itemize the items... so it becomes hard to dispute their pricing.

In anycase, most distributors can track when the shipment arrived and when it was shipped out to the shops. Like for Nikon, if you lost your receipt, they can track based on serial number when it was sent to the shops... and your warranty would begin from that date... but if that item was sitting in the shop for 6 months, then you lose 6 months of warranty.

If a new receipt is issued on an old item, the buyer basically do not know when the item was sent out from the distributor unless he check with them.

Yeap. Especially when refurbishing is very common nowadays. If you go ShenZhen in China, don't be surprise your new phone or something is a used one and refurbished.

Best way is, don't think so much...

Goes to show how irresponsible some sellers can be. What goes around comes around.
The forumers who got their D300 used would probably not be too pleased after reading this thread.

Had used my D70s for some time already. and once I bought my
D300 and tested it i can feel the power already. hehe
Not forgetting that I actually tested it on some green tree
thing outside my kitchen window. The color reproduced
is a big jump (cause compared to D70s ba)
Nonetheless its a very nice equipment to have.

People selling it off are good thing for people who wanna
own one and try. Even if it's only 100-200 difference in
prices. That 200 can already buy a SanDisk Extreme III
16Gb CF Card already.

My own personnel motto. The heavier the better. :bsmilie:
