I just encountered an incident while selling off my lens at the Nikon BNS corner which I thought I should share it here in case someone encountered similar thing as me.
Posted an ad online on sunday to sell my tamron lens, someone emailed me expressing interest and asked alot of questions. In the end, I reserved the lens for him but last min on Monday, he decided not to get it(perhaps because I refuse to give discount). Soon after that, someone just "SMS" me expressing interest in the lens. As I did not state my contact # in the ad, I was quite surprised that someone could actually SMS me asking about the lens. When I asked for his name etc, he didnt want to tell me. But since the 2nd buyer sounded "keen", we exchanged quite a long conversation of SMS regarding the function of the lens and some camera tips. And I got to know him as "Ah Cho" - Which sparks some suspicions as the first buyer's surname is also "CHO" from his email add. I even asked him if "he" is the first buyer but he denied. So I thought well maybe two "CHO"s were interested to get this lens at the same time. We even settled on the dealing venue and time to be on Tuesday. But when the day came, he told me that he was down with flu and ask if we can deal another day. To be fair while keep my options open, I told him to give me a date that he can deal(after I reserved the lens for him, 2 potential buyers emailed me but I rejected both). So in the end, we agree to deal today. This morning, I sent an sms to confirm the appointment with him but he did not reply at all. Sensing that he might still be sick or busy, I waited until afternoon before deciding to give him a call. GUESS what? the first call, he answered and after I disclose my name etc, he hanged up immediately !!! I thought it could be due to reception problem and so I tried to call back at least 3 more times(with short intervals).. This guy actaully hanged up on me all 3 times!!!!!!
The reasons I find this person suspicious are because both buyers wanted to meet at the "purple line".. and they actually have similar "surnames/names" - Jason/Ah Cho/Choo/Cho.... Both asked similar questions about the lens. I tried to google both handphone numbers and it seems to me they are "related" somewhere another in other online SG forums. Eg in hardwarezone forum, I saw ads posting for one user bearing the name "jason" with either handphone contact numbers. then in another forum someone having negative selling experience for this person.
Maybe I could be wrong about this person using 2 handphone numbers. Just could be coincidence or I am oversuspicious.. but what I would like to warn sellers are - beware of such fickle-minded and not serious buyers. They will just waste your time and cause you to lose potential opportunities to sell your things to other serious players. And my advise to this person - if you are uncertain, you have doubts or you are not happy with the prices or my explanation about the lens, just let me know!! Or if you decided that you found something else better or you decided not to buy from me, you can 大大方方 BE A MAN to tell me.. Not avoid or hang up on my calls!!! we are all grown ups.
So fellow clubsnappers, beware of this person. His handphone numbers start with 9112XXXX or 9012XXXX. That's all.. sorry for venting my unpleasant experience here. Just hope that people be more considerate and cautious... :thumbsd:
