Seller with no Principle and Ethic

There is just one seller with no principle and break his promises, make potential buyer go all the way to the meeting place after the arrangement is made.

And yet sold to someone who somehow manage to go there early than the arranged timing and pay a hundred dollars more and grab it. Upon seeing me, the buyer was speaking halfway to the seller, hurriedly get back to his car and drove off with the camera.

I don't know how this other buyer get to know the venue and time and reach there early. I believe this seller is making use of this meeting to get the other buyer to pay more. but with a hundred dollars more he sold his soul, break his principle and ethic.

He made appointment with me first and can ask for higher price which other offer, and if I say no he can offer other.
But, when I reached there, the other buyer is holding the camera and the seller is holding his cash.

The seller just one 2 words, very sorry. and back off and sms me he sold a hundred dollar more.

Moderator, please correct me if I am wrong to post here. I don't know whether I can put his id and phone number here too, to warn other of such unscrupulous seller.

send it to consumers corner.

He did not promise to sell to you at this price. Maybe he needed money badly. If I were you, I would have congratulated the seller on making a fast + good sale, shake hands, accept his apology and told the buyer to enjoy his new gadget and this great photo hobby. That way, you got two new friends.
Don't sulk over such trivial things.

yes, if you think it is a good deal, do whatever you can to secure it, like what the other buyer did.
if you lose out, accept it and move on. tomorrow is another day, life has to go on.

Don't understand this part, did you tell him that if others offered higher price he can deal with them?

I agree! ;) Lets think of it this way.. you still have your $$$ right.. that means less expenses on gears :bsmilie:

If I understand the TS correctly, he seems to be saying that since the seller made a deal with him, the seller should have contacted him first to let him have the chance match the higher offer and only sell it to the other person if he was not willing to match the higher offer.

I sympathize with the TS. Once a deal made, not so nice for seller to go back on his word. What's more the seller should have contacted the TS to inform him that the deal was off.

At least the TS would not have wasted his time to travel there all the way to get that kind of treatment.

On the plus side u still have your money but the whole experience is very sore. But I think in hindsight, TS can try to look again, u may get a better deal next time round. Good luck there and hope u take things easy.

Experienced this before. I guess it's only human that the seller would go for the highest bid.. some people even do the 'first come first served' rule. Don't be too bothered about people like these.. you'll be a lot happier. :)

Unfortunately, there are all kinds of people in this world... and you just encountered one which goes against the values many of us live by. I believe what goes around comes around... so let it go and move on. Hope you find what you are looking for from a seller who has integrity... :)

i think, unless the seller has PROMISED to sell i to you, i don't think the seller is wrong here.. just take it as if you are buying from a shop, you called the shop asking for a certain item, shop said they had 1 left, and you quickly go to the shop and found out that there is another person came to the shop one minute earlier than you and was holding on to the item, while the shop owner is writing down the receipt..

clearly, although the seller has made appointment with you, he did not reserve it for you, just like the shop example where one told the shop one's going down to the shop, but not specifically reserve it..
He made appointment with me first and can ask for higher price which other offer, and if I say no he can offer other.

i know it's quite a bitter experience, but like others, just move on..
unless reservation has been made, the seller is not totally wrong..

At least u don't lose anything. Close thread please.

he should shake hand and congratulate seller IF the seller did not make TS go to the arranged location and then sell to another buyer .

I heard this happened yesterday Wed 13 Apr. Its quite funny. In this example, it is the buyer that got no principle or ethic.

Owner of famous camera shop XXX selling his personal camera to some random buyer from clubsnap. The meeting place for transaction was another camera shop YYY. (coz owner had some dealing with boss of the other camera shop). The Seller had his employee from camera shop XXX with him.

Buyer: hullo
Seller: hullo, here is the camera I advertised on clubsnap.
Buyer: looks ok.
Seller: okay can I have the $650 we agreed please?
Buyer: [check wallet] hmm... I only have $600.
Seller: We agreed to deal at $650.
Buyer: I only have $600.
Seller: fine. I'll wait here. You go ATM and get $50.
Buyer: I only have $600.
Seller: Yes. Yes. I know. Go get another $50. I'll wait.
Buyer: I only have $600.
Seller: ...
Buyer: I only have $600.
Seller: dude, we agreed $650 to deal, and I will wait for you to visit ATM...
Buyer: I only have $600.
Seller: You're joking right???
Buyer: I only have $600.
Seller [turning to his employee]: hey, didn't you say you like my camera?
Employee: yes boss.
Seller: I'll sell it to you for $500.
Employee: yes boss.
Seller: here, take it.
Buyer: hey, I'll pay you $600!!! Why are you giving it to him for $500??? You broke the deal!
Seller: nope. The agreement was $650. You broke the deal.

True story.

Another true story:

Buyer: hullo.
Seller: hullo. Here's the camera. Feel free to inspect.
Buyer [looks at camera very carefully]: ...
Buyer [thoroughly examines and tests camera]: ...
Buyer [continues to peer intently at every angle of the camera body]: ...
Buyer: ARGHGGHGHGH!
Seller: Yes? What is the matter?
Buyer: Sweat mark!
Seller: What?
Buyer: There is a sweat mark!
Seller: What? Where?
Buyer: Here!
Seller: I don't see anything? What do you mean sweat mark?
Buyer: Here! Sweat Mark! It’s a mark left behind by your sweat!
Seller: Dude. This is black plastic, how can sweat stain or even be seen. There is no mark whatever.
Buyer: Sweat mark!
Seller: Dude. Seriously. Do you want it or not.
Buyer: Sweat mark!
Seller: Whatever. Give us back the camera. No deal.
Buyer: Sweat mark!
Seller: Yea. And pigs can fly. Goodbye.
Buyer: Wait. You can't just leave. There is a sweat mark!
Seller: Dude, stop crying about a sweat mark. I am not selling it anymore.
Buyer: Wait. Wait. There is a sweat mark. You must give a discount.
Seller: ...
Buyer: Sweat mark!!! Discount!!!

Ridiculous... Both stories.... The buyer of course.

LOL. I think artspraken can become a good story teller. So humorous.

Guys...

I understand situation when you thought to have a deal but later on find out that the item was sold to someone else... This will happen all the time so no need to even bother with it.

It happen to me many many times but well... good luck to them.

Smart-ass people do exist in this world... while some go by principle, some people don't go by it. As other poster mentioned, you still have your money and you have one less equipment in your dry box...

Go and take some pictures... stop worry about trivial things like this.

Regards,

Hart
