people have the right to sell to whomever they want. did they enter into a contract with you? if not, you have nothing on whoever it is.

it is not ebay, live with it.

I see, that means anyone can back out on a bid last minute? Alright, thanks!

yes, and especially if they have not agree to confirm sell to you.

Maybe there's a higher bidder tru pm but the seller didnt update? But of coz , things like these do happen. Look on the bright side.. maybe you'll get a better deal soon:)

You should not feel bad la.. maybe he got somebody who bid higher than you but he did not update the thread. THis happens all the time.. sometimes it is also relation and comfort factor with the person you are dealing with..

... maybe that's a sign that you should consider getting a Canon instead ... coz you'll find more joy trading with Canongraphers ... ;)

yup... I agree to the general comments here.. and I don't think it is fair to rate him a bad seller and I see that he has been pretty transparent listing those bids out in that thread. My usual practice is after buyer and seller have agreed on the price and a price for meeting has been confirmed, backing out will be bad. That is when a good seller shows as he honours his words and reserve that item for you even if a higher bid comes along... Well, that is only me.. and there isn't really a hard and fast rule how this can be done.. However, if the seller has already confirm the location and you are waiting there for hours but he never turn up w/o a reason and, moreover, sold to someone else.. then you have all the rights to rate him -ve... just my 2 cents worth :) Peace!

Mmm i see. But the seller has state that he will close on friday... Sigh. I was ready to up my bid anything anyone outbids me, because he has the cam i want and the equipment that i need and also within my budget..
Oh well, guess **** happens.

Hahaha! I'm a student on a very tight budget. I manage to gather the funds, just enough to buy that cam. Been eyeing it for a long time. But then, that cam is no longer on sale. And buying everything seperately will cost me a bomb. There goes this hobby down the drain.

Feeling very upset and somewhat cheated. Hahaha! Wasn't expecting this to happen. I thought people over here'd honour everyword they say.. Guess not

The seller seems quite transparent in his thread maybe he didn't update the highest bidder prior to closing of the sales.

Don't feel bad, my experience are worst compared to yours:

#1. Confirmed price and place with seller then on the day to meet/deal I called while on the way there, he said not free to meet then the next evening it's sold to other buyer.

#2. Confirmed price and self collected, called seller while on the way, reached seller house and he said it's sold to first come first served.

I keep my cool and didn't even want to rate them.

Ah ... that's the joy of CSing ... good camera equipment need not always be expensive ... with some slight adjustments to your budget, you can get a pretty good 2nd hand DSLR. I sold my D300 with kit lens a couple of months back for only 480 with a camera bag ... ;)

... anyway, back to the topic ... I think you won't be able to rate him as it seems like iTrader is down for the time being (or is it for good ?)

Bro d300?!??!?!

I've been looking at the market place for awhile, i don't really like the d40. Apart from that, all the other DSLRS aren't below my budget, therefore i had to get a prosumer - fz30 as i like telephoto lenses. Sigh, been using my fz10 for awhile but it's too noisy to my liking.

Wah, that's really horrid luh. But i feel totaly upset since i've been saving just for that cam. Sigh!

relax man...such things happen all the time.

to be honest, the seller had no obligation to sell to you if there was no agreement between the both of you. i wouldn't call it 'cheating' or 'not honouring his rules'.

if he had said yes, he will sell to you and meet you at this place or that place. if he later said he sold it off, then you can go ahead and call him anything you want.

i've had situations where i've already agreed on selling to a person and received higher bids subsequently. just have to say sorry its pending sale, will get back to them if it falls through lor.

don't worry, good deals will come again. another way of looking at it is you'll save even more money now and might be able to get a value for money 2nd hand DSLR. 350Ds are going for like $700 now!

Thanks for the reply man. But the seller stated a time for it to end, so i was sure i was going to bid all the way pass any person who outbids me for it. Then he decided to close before that, sucky eh. Hahaha 350Ds without lenses!
Maybe some kind soul will sell me a DSLR with lenses for a good price :(
But and again, this kinda things rarely happen
