looking at my dynax 7 and my a700 now and guess what? dynax 7 is like a toy.....

I don't think so leh... the 7 has the old school SLR design lar... still solid I feel...

I also still using the D7D... hard to give it up... it's really very ergonomic and logical...

Hi people! I have a Dynax 7 that I have not been using for years and I just realised while searching through my drybox that the rubber grip around the camera has gone sticky! Is the rubber grip replacement service available in Sony service center? If not, is there any place where I can get the old sticky rubber replaced? What would be the price be like if yes?

Sticky rubber seems to be a common problem here... You *might* be able to get it replaced at SSC, or you can try some of the camera stores at Adelphi.

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know what is the cause of the sticky rubber? Is it due to too dry a setting in the drybox?

It can be due to that, or on the opposite, it starts to biodegrade because it's too humid and all the bacteria from your hands are getting busy on the rubber. :D

I think it's due to the very dry atmosphere in your dry box... what's your percent humidity? I set my to about 30%... if the atmosphere is very dry, the solvent trapped in the rubber tends to come to the surface, leading to the sticky feeling... and another problem that surfaces is that the glue that sticks the rubber pad to the body will also dry out very quickly leading to the peeling... I've had peeling problems with my 7D but not sticky rubber pad... my 7 is still ok leh... just picked up it the other day when the thread on the 7 appeared... for old time's sake...:)
