Uhh... removed center column does not cause any loss of sturdiness? no other area affected? May I ask how much this setup cost and how light it is?

Focusing rail? is it the one that allows the camera to slide to and fro the subject?

Thanks

As far as I can tell, no. I have more problems with wind/breeze/kay poh people but that's another story :p Removing the center column also allows the tripod to go all the way down to ground level.

Yes, mine is a manfrotto, cannot remember model number.

Let me know if you got a PM.

Nope, I didn't get a PM from you....but got one from your friend Sykestang. Is it regarding the camera and lens?

Glad to be of help.

I myself luckily didn't spend too much money changing and changing and changing tripod system. I have had and used my old old old Velbon which has served me well; but after 8 years, the legs don't hold steady anymore and the head needs to be turned so tight so not to move. I finally finally got the Gitzo 1325 with a Kirk BH-1 ballhead and haven't looked back since.
