Hey guys , thanks for all your concern. I am unable to contact canon today but I am sending them email first tonite. Will let you all know the outcome.

Lastly, do remember to do your research well before buying any camera or lens. And lastly I would like to share some good info with you guys.

"Beware of buying any spectacle frame or lens which have no price tab on them" The sale man will any how mark up the price one. I think almost anything which has no price tab lah.

gutss

if nothing goes wrong with your cam lens in 1 year, then no issue.
no need for wty.
just in case they really send for you the wty, check with sigma and canon svc ctr. you have your cam len serial numbers.
since so many experienced users in this forum, the next time you buy, why not ask them first or arrange for them to shop with you.
salesmen at "black stores" (hei tien) very afraid of buyer's friends because he can con some of the people all of the time ; but he cannot con all of the people all of the time.
did you ever ask "does this cam lens come with warranty?" before you buy.
if you did, then they should provide.
but they got one trick -- " I sent the wty for you, but maybe it got lost in the mail"
they know you cannot prove they did not send.
stores are not afraid of lawyers. they can also get their lwayers to countersue you.
stores are not afraid you will not buy from them. you are just one person.
stores are afraid of wide and never ending publicity that they are a "hei tien" and that all Singaporeans and tourists should avoid this store.
this will DESTROY the shop's business.
but the owner can always register another shop under another name.
be careful how you do it.
if you do it wrongly or say the wrong thing in Internet, he can sue you.
if you do it smartly and he really hurts, (lost $$$$$$ business) then the owner will sacrifice
the salesman who sold the cam lens to you. And say he has taken action against the black sheep.

always check the warenty card beofre paying. .check the goods . always ask if the set is all right. ask them for one to one exchange in 7 days .. you are allow to do that in SG.

get the name card of the saleman,. plus the bill .

Anything .. call Case that are more than willing to help .

ricohflex you got a point here. That what they said they will send me. But everytime I call up they will said next week or they said will call me up when my warranty is ready. The last time i call them was this afternoon and was told that it should be ready by next week. Think i have collect it personally instead let them send. But first thing must do now is comfirm with canon first.

Never buy something which u feel that is a 'great bargain' especially from a small shop @SLQ as they might be a branch from the Sxxx Brxxxxx which they are famous being "hei dian".

John
you mean that in message title ? :bsmilie:

I had a similar experience at AP in SLS when I bought 2 lenses. Both represented as warrantied but like you I discovered that the cards were missing after I left the shop. Luckily I was nearby and returned to the store. I offered them 2 choices, either give me the warranty cards or give me a full refund. After much wrangling, the salesman threw a long face and rudely grabbed my receipt out of my hand, chucked the warranty cards my way and told me to leave. Needless to say that was the last time I've ever purchased anything from the Ah Bengs at AP.

I'd bring the camera back to the store if I were you. Bring a few friends along, try to explain the situation and see what they can offer. Be nice, not rude so you don't sink to their level.

I also had a similar experience at AP at Funan recently when I bought 2 lenses. I only realised that there's no warranty card for one (the more ex one) when I reached home. Went back to the shop the next day, the salesperson gave me a lot of "u sure or not, did u check properly", then finally he said if there's a problem within the year, bring back and he'll settle for me blah blah blah. Since it's not too ex ($600) and my fault for not checking before leaving the shop...I only hope that there would be no need to activate the warranty. But I sure know where I will not go next time.

From what I get feedback from some customers, is that the dealer/s keep the warranty card to claim free gifts from Canon. What happen is that they keep some or all the free gifts which they may sell for money or give away with other sale or they give you some or part of the gifts. They give you extra discount on the items you buy and thus how they make back the discount they give you. Generally I suggest to customers should demand back the warranty card.

If AP is selling grey sets, will Canon honour the warranty even if you have the warranty cards?

And if the lens are local sets, why is AP hiding the warranty cards from customers? :dunno:
if i m not wrong,
AP's parent company,
PSH or PHS is the local dirtributor of sigma,
no reason to carry grey.

You are actually paying a bit extra for a warrantied set, that's why gray sets tend to be a little cheaper as there is no warranty coverage, some shops don't even provide shop warranty for gray equipment.

In my case, the prices I was charged for my lenses was at normal market prices for warrantied sets. I had done some research and chose to make my purchase at AP for some slight savings. I'm talking about $60 or so for a $1500 purchase.

I had asked specifically about the warranty and was reassured that there was coverage. When I returned to the store to ask them where were the cards, they had initially tried to make me cough up $150 more for the warranty. As they had misrepresented themselves in the first place, I felt that they were in no position to demand the extra amount. And when they finally gave me the cards, all they did was to take some blank cards, write the serial numbers on them and flung them in my face.
