Suggestion.. u can buy the F80 body and get the flash at $199 and sell the camera to me on instalment basis :D

Heehee 24 months interest free.

Anyway, if you're getting a DSLR, don't think too far. SB-80DX or SB-800 is da flash!

Sb28DX actually works with the Nikon DSLRs....

SB28DX is designed for D-SLR, it was priced much higher during its time.

That's because the CF card was provided by the shop, not by Nikon. For a promotion like this, you'll get the F80 at $650 + whatever the lens bundle costs.

SB-28DX and SB-80Dx are virtually identical, just a wee-bit smaller for the SB-80DX, and a few other features which aren't needed for basic flash operations.

The price is damn good, though the F65 won't be able to take advantage of all the SB-28's functions. =P

Me thinking of *pathing* my way to DSLR. :D

A couple of questions:
  • What will I miss if I replace my existing SB-26 with SB-28DX on F90x?
  • Is 28DX capable of "classical" TTL (ie. not using pre-flash) and auto-balanced filled-in flash on non-DSLRs?
  • It's mentioned 28DX misses "wireless mode" as compared to 80DX. Is that "slave" mode with light sensor?
  • Apart from this, what else are the differences between 28DX and 80DX?

Which functions is that? I had used F65 before and a F80 now, didn't realise the different.

Just curious.

SB28DX has all the functions of the SB26 except for slave mode.

Check the manual, it's there. Think 3D TTL isn't available, only standard TTL? Something like that.

Oh My God!! You are a walking manual...

Just did a quick check. It is 3D matrix TTL.

anyone knows the price difference for a sb-80dx and sb28dx??

the difference in this 2 products like you all have said is only in the wireless mode..right??

whats this wireless mode for??

The price difference was quite minimal - ~$100 or less.

Wireless mode is useful when you want to position the flash off camera and don't want to have cables linking the flash to the camera.

Just wondering... anyone actually bought the combo? ;p

No, didn't have that kind of cash to buy both ;p

However the price difference between SB-28DX and SB-80DX both new was only a mere $100 (at the time of my purchase). Thus many got the SB-80DX. :)

Hi all,

Was thinking getting the F80 + DX28 as a replacement to my mom's SRT100. Is it worth getting the promo package?

All comments will be appreciated!

Thanks!

Whether is it a good promo packahge will depends on the price.

Someone have mentioned that if you wanted to get the $199 flash with the purchase, you might have to pay a higher price than "equote" price.

If the shop is willing to sell you the package following the equote price and the flash @ $199. It is definately a very good package.

Maybe push your luck a bit by asking to change the kit lens to something "better" like 50/1.8 AFD or 28-105AFD or 24-85AFS. Even with a little bit of top up, I think you will benefit more in the long run. :)

Hello,

Got the package at CP Marina yesterday. They didn't allow purchase at equote price nor substitution of default lens.

F80d + 28-100mm f3.5-5.6 G + SB-28DX @ $1099

Well got a date ver at the promo price of a normal F80 and 28-100mm instead of the 28-80mm.

Btw, what's the purpose of ommibounce and where can I get a bigger bounce card (sorry not sure if I've described it incorrectly)

Thinking of getting MB16, the camera will be easier to hold.

Cheers all :)

Congrats on your new purchase...

The purpose of the omni bounce is to "disffuse" the harsh flash and provide some light bouncing similar to a bounce card.

Hi,

A friend of mine is interested in getting a F80 body and the flash, but is not interested in the bundled kit lens. Is there a way to get just the body and the flash cheapest without the kit lens, or the bundle is still the best deal? Can he replace the kit lens with a better lens by topping up?

Nope dun think so. Both CPs didn't allow, perhaps try out at AP?
