Thus stick back to my good old 1850 Energizer Rechargeable bought from NTUC @$25.90 for 4pcs. Even though only 1850 but seems to last longer than the crappy Sanyo... Now I've got 16pcs of 2100 Energizer and also 28pcs of 1850 Energizer, which I happily given 8pcs away tonight. ;p

Sanyo Sucks! Piece of advice to anyone who wants to get it...
:thumbsd:

It takes a while for Sanyo batteries to condition themselves and reach their full potential. The review at www.imaging-resource.com indicates that Sanyo's are among the best in terms of performance.

What type of charger did you use on the Sanyo?

Did you tried using the Sanyo on Energizer Charger or the original Sanyo Charger?

Did you notice any extraordinary high heat when charging your Sanyo? Your Sanyo could have gone damaged by using of an inappropriate charger. I’m using the Old GP slow charger on them. Takes overnight to charge them up, but 2s recycle time on SB80Dx+SD-8a during shooting. :D

I'm not sure why EastGear can sell them at such a good price but if you are going to buy Sanyo in other places (Retail shop or challenger), they are more Ex than the Energizer.

As for whether an energizer is a Sanyo, This has been rumor ever since energizer has their NIMH, not only the tested rating is very close. The niche appearance also suggested that they are the same. Below is just one of those you can find on internet.

http://www.photo-forums.com/WebX?50@30.7kwlaEQG3dA.0@.ee95a8d

But this cannot be officially confirmed or Sanyo will be in BIG trouble. (sue by Energizer)

To be fair for Sanyo, after using them for 5 month+. Charged on Saturday Night and no problem on SB80dx's 2s recycle time on Friday night.

I say, "They are the best"

Vincent

I'm using Sony 1hr quick charger, the new model with the ticking charging function... I got 4 of them always charging together before my shoot :) My colleagues always makes fun of me with my chargers as 'Kiasu' as I left them all in my office and charging all 16pcs at one go... Maybe you could be right about my charger not the proper type, but they have served me well for my Sony & Energizer batteries. And I get full charge around 2.5hrs for all 16pcs. So to prepare a event shoot, I need abt half a day. For info all my batteries will turn burning hot upon full charge be it Sanyo, Sony or Energizer.

Don't understand why Sanyo, claim to be such a good battery cannot 'tahan' the fast charger, frankly as I own so many batteries, can't imagine I had to charge 16hrs for 4pcs then a single shooting session, I'll need a week to prepare all my batteries :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

On other hand, all this while I have been thinking that EastGear have been selling me 'Water Goods' until I came accross all my friends having the same comments on the Sanyo.... which I decided that they are SUCKS right down to earth... thus I didn't even bother to put them up for sale but give free to my friends and colleagues for their kids toy cars, Even so, I still received feedbacks from them on the sucks batteries I've given them, which I simply reply, "beggars can't be choosers..."

In all cases, I've already been thru the pain of changing all my batteries now to Energizer 2100. Believe it or not... I'm just sharing my views on the SUCKS Sanyo, just like I also been telling people how sucks Canon is... :bsmilie: if you wanna know more, we can always meet up for a nice talk of all the SUCKS products we come accross!!! :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

dispite the fact of my experience with Sanyo, cuz it's cheap, I am very tempted to get them again.... should I?

... As the old saying goes, "Once bitten, Twice Shy!"...

You're lucky that it leaks in your bag this round... what if the next time, it leaks in SB80dx or SB800... SD8A... SD6... LightMeters... Light Panels... MB100 backup battery holder... Battery Grip... Mertz Flash Gun... etc etc etc.

Imagine the worst is that you did not notice in time, the chemical is acidic and corrosive, all your gear goes beyond repair and warranty does not covers such 'mishandling'...

The worst have yet to come, you went to a assignment shoot thinking all your batteries are functional, until you start firing them for a few round and notice all the equipment started a low battery warning... even you want to buy Alkaline or Energizer Lithium to do a last minute replacement, you may not find the total quantity in time... Simple calculation will work this out:
SB80DX - 4 batteries
SB800DX - 5 batteries
SD8A - 6 batteries
SD6 - 6 batteries
Camera Battery Grip - 4 - 6 batteries depends on model.
LightMeters - 1 - 2 depends on model
Flash Gun - 8 - 12 depends on model
Light Panels - 6 - 8 depends on model

You'll find saving the little can't pay for your precious equipment...

Even I've changed my to Energizer, I still don't actually trust them and remove them after every shoot and stored separately in battery cases of 4...

Choice is yours... :sweatsm:

Huh? Isn't it the other way round? :)

I've been using Gp 1600, Sony 1600, Sanyo 1850, Maha 1850 and Sanyo 2100 all with the Maha 401FS. I must say the Sanyo 2100 charge fast, give long life and absolutely no problems.

I have just try out the recycle time on my new SB800 with Sanyo 2100.

Time was just over 3s less than 4s using 4x2100!

Didn't bother to test out the 5th battary or using the sd-8A.

AJ23, I suspect your batteries were not properly charged. I beleive slow charge is the best for high capacity NIMH, regardless what the brand is.

Vincent

I paid $640 for my speed light ;)
Ya the recycling time quite fast, finish my batteries pretty quickly.

Any one can recommend good Ni-MH (2000mA) rechargeable batteries please, I'm new to using rechargeables.

What are the brands that can be trusted (i.e doesn't leak)?
Thanks!

Nice tempting price... should I?

You know, you are asking a very silly question. You know the drill right?

BUY! BUY! BUY!

Bought SB 800 today. Was playing with it. The recycling time is very short. :-)

How about using SB-80DX as slave (or master)?

I have used it successfully as both master and slave on the D2H.
I also works with D100's pop-up flash as master and both the 80DX and 800 as slaves.

Try asking the nikonians in europe and the states who use sanyo AAs. I'm sure their charge retains longer. Its the humidity i guess. Try placing your Sanyo AAs in the dry cabinet and see if their charge retains for a longer time...
