Saturday (20 Feb 2010) sunrise shoot - Changi Boardwalk

To be honest, I worked on those photos for a few hours and then my photoshop crashed (first time ever) when I was trying to apply a filter effect without me saving a single one of them.

When I looked at the photos the 2nd time round, my PP flow was significantly different and I spent a total of half an hour or so across the 3 photos I posted. While we were talking shop, somebody spoke about how going back to a location 2nd time round almost always yields better pictures, I think the same goes for PP. Hopefully one day I will be proficient enough to not need a 2nd round :P

Oh and the next shoot, we need somewhere to discuss it... Tentatively it'll be Saturday evening for a sunset. Exactly where I'm still looking for suggestions, so far we have Lower Pierce Reservoir and the Singapore Flyer area.

here are a few options, including the one you have mentioned:

a) Lower Peirce Reservoir
b) Singapore Flyer
c) Kranji Reservoir
d) Sembawang Park
e) Tuas View
f) Upper Seletar Reservoir

This shot is a nice composition of the boardwalk and the lone tree.

Did you go back there the same day? wow

Nah, I slept right through the sunset!

That one was taken just before CNY. There were some 'upgrading and reinforcement works' to the Kelong Walk section of the boardwalk. It's incredibly windy there, quite nice feeling the warm, salty air. My friend and I couldn't get further to the place where sunsets are supposedly the best because of the said upgrading. It should be completed by now, though.

Oh guys who went for the shoot... Don't forget to wipe down your gear, the salty air and water probably not too good for it :P Especially your tripod legs

My tripod starting to fail me already, one of the legs is stuck and refuses to deploy. Heh.

But I do a wipedown of my gear everytime i shoot, double if salty air, heh.

wipedown means just use freshwater dipped cloth to wipe?

or is it better to use fresh water to wash? :dunno:

I use wet tissue to wipe only, then use a dry cloth to dry it

the purple patches are algae/cyanobacteria? Hope that's not oil stains brr.
think they are algae.

sorry to hear about this. comes with the territory. no blue screen of death?

Is it just me or is that a pun I missed!

Actually I think the HDR worked fairly well, the details are brought out very nicely without anything looking unnatural, just need touching up in photoshop to remove those halos :)

We're having a sunset shoot this saturday at Upper Seletar, if you're interested please drop me a PM :) Or SMS 91990523

furcheng: nice photos you got. the HDR halo need to be edited like what sabee mention. i like #1

furcheng: great capture on the #1 pic. hope to see you this saturday for a sunset shoot at Upper Seletar.
