Hi owners of the Sanyo HD700, HD800 and CA8.

Can I find out how the video and picture quality of your vidcam?

I've seen some reviews, vids taken from HD800 seems to suffer from "wobbling"...is it really that bad?

Wanting to buy an easy to handle vidcam so I will use it often and also budget's about $500 onli..

Please share your thoughts... :)

HD800 just didn't meet its expectation. It is not worth to spend the extra money on that camera. I'll suggest you to get the CA8

Will you consider the HD1000 or HD1010?

Actually now considering the HD1010...it's USD 479 now and since HD800 isn't really up to expectations and it's pricing's only slightly lower than the HD1010. So, the HD1010 living up to what's advertised? ;)

I'm really a starter with vidcams and wanted something small to handle so I WILL use it rather than buying something superb-quality but big, and in the end...store it inside my cupboard. :)

So you got your camera already?
The HD1000 is $40 less which don't have the slow motion mode! But I believe most of the features are the same.

check out my videos using HD700.

what i like is that compared to other brands this price and size, the default audio quality is actually pretty good.

Thanks for the advice... :) I've considered and browsed thru quite a lot of forums and reviews. Seems that Sanyo HD1010 has the form factor that I like and the price is still reasonable for a starter cam...the rest are quite expensive and also the form factor are traditional. The HD1010 seem to have some minor performance tweaks and improvements over the HD1000, so I guess paying USD40 more to "play-safe" lor... :)

Placed an order in warehouse123.com already, though it's not processed yet. :P

Cool! The HD1010 should be the way to go! Great choice!

Do you know, i found they have the original 1900mah DB-L50 battery at very low price.

The original batteries last very long.

I ordered from warehouse123 and think they are giving me an extra battery with the original as well...so think 2 batts shld be enough bah...

Anyway, ordered on last Friday and not processed yet...think clash with CNY and they are based in HK...so it's a waiting game for me now... :p

Yeah, maybe they are having Chinese new year holiday. I received my last order within couple days.

The problem with the "gun" type camcorder is that ur hand is below the lens and with a full 1080P sensor, a small movement in ur hand create obvious video shaking..

Sanyo just release a series of new Xacti that is more of the palm type like what u see in Canon and sony series.. those prove to give better stability.

i played with the 1010 (and now the HD2000 is out) and definitely i wont recommend that unless u got superb hand stability.

it takes time to practice! I don't have much problem with the gun style ...:)

well ya if u are ok with it then definitely its good.. however give it to any new user, many will have a more stable video shooting with a palm holding style camcorder then a gun type..

basically u need to try a lot harder with a gun type camcorder to hv the video more stabilized

I have the HD800 and while camera shake is definitely an issue, with sufficient light, I really like the quality that the camera produces in relation to the price I paid for it. To me, it is value for money and now that I've learnt how to minimise camera shake, the only real element I need to worry about all the time is whether the place is sufficiently lit.

true.. if price/quality ratio.. the xacti is one of the best ard... i still like the quality from the HD700, with good low light capability for such small size/lens camera

now the 2009 range is out, they hv a 720p one that is almost as small but palm style , that one might be worth considering for anyone with a tight budget and want 720P
