Thinking of buying this. Goes for about SG$800 at Sim Lim Square (Square ... Cam)

Should I do this guys?

Also, how would I edit full HD recordings and burn them to a disc?. Please advise.

Thanks for the overwhelming response :)

erm, pardon me, but where's the overwhelming response? They PM-ed you?

heh.. i was just being sarcastic..

btw Jagdeep, ur question is too general and too "pls spoon feed me" ... dont think many pros here want to start typing "video editing 101" here...

Actually, I feel that at least TS should scope down the question. Maybe down to the hardware itself, cos' I am fairly interested in this videocam too. What are the competitors to this videocam?

HD2000? dont ask me.. I hate it ... if u hv hands like a tripod, then its all good.. but with full HD recording every details, a slight jerk is shown quite well in ur final picture. Thats because the 2009 and previous Xacti image stabilizer is pretty weak.

2010 series is out... see how those scores. But one thing is that the Xacti quality is worth the money... HD2000 got larger sensor and works very very well under low light, but the lower range one is hopeless in low light...

Hmm I can't find the HD2010 on google, how'd you find it?

gibss.

I meant year 2010 ...

Actually mate, thats what I was looking for, brutal truth. My hands are jello, and shake a lot.
the new CS1 cited to be released in March looks promising. Waiting for that. USD 299 !

Thanks for the entertaining posts

before u try on the Xacti newer range.. try out the sony or panasonic stabilizer to get an idea how the good one performs.. then try on the newer Xacti and see how it scores... but so far their 2006 to 2009 models scores poorly in image stabilizing...

and if anyone tell u its not important or ask u just to hold it more stable.. dont listen to them.. unless u trained in Tibet to hv super muscle hands and super stable then i nothing to say la.. haha...

Hi Jag

Before you decide, please take a look at what this little camcorder is capable of at :

http://vimeo.com/tag:hd2000

http://vimeo.com/tag:hd2000a

This camcorder has it's strong points among which are :

1. A sharp 16x zoom lens

2. 1080 60p format

3. Very good low light capability (great for function hall and stage shooting)

4. Cheapest among the full hd camcorders.

and the weak points are :

1. poor image stabilization.

2. can only video up to 4 gb at one time before it starts another 4gb file.

3. SDHC card not exactly cheap. A 32 gb hi-speed card (3 hrs video) cost $90.00+

4. It's unconventional gun shape which some people may not like.

On playback, the clips could be played back on the computer using Quicktime, Nero Showtime and maybe a few others.

To playback directly to the TV, you can use the supplied Docking Station connected via an HDMI cable.

or by one of those currently popular HD Harddisk Media Player like the AC Ryan Play!onHD. Just plug in the SDHC into the card slot. Playback of the raw files is quite smooth.

For editing, I use the latest Cyberlink Power Director 8 which could cut & join clips, add transitions, menus, effects, re-encode and ouput to a variety of file and disk formats including DVD and BD.

Hope this will help.

i own the earlier version hd1010, quality is excellent but you need a very stable hand for zooming, IS is bad.
