Sanyo eneloop or GP Recyko?

just to ask the eneloop users how many shots can this batt last in a 420ex flash? the reason why i ask is i'm running my first set of eneloop batt in my 420ex flash and after abt 500 shots the batt is still having fast recharge and going strong...

GP recyko the outer plastic layer will peel when used like 2-3months. Mine peel liao make it tight when remove or inserting batteries. So i peel them off altogether, now my battery very ugly.

enloop got this problem?

Mine's still fine... but come on! Lens peeling may be an issue, but battery peeling?? No one sees the battery other than yourself:sweat:

Peeling of the insulating sleeve may seem cosmetic but in fact it is very dangerous. If two batteries are in series next to each other, and somehow their bodies touch each other in the sections where the label has peeled away, it will short out one of them and well destroy your equipment and possibly cause a fire. Imagine shorting out 3 batteries in your flash gun's battery chamber, that will be catastrophic.

BUT most, if I am not mistaken, all Nikon flashes have the individual battery chambers seperated, so there is no chance of shorting out.

Where is cheapest place to buy Sanyo Eneloop with charger?

I need 4 Eneloops for my flash.

But I either buy a 4 battery pack.... or a charger with 2 battery. SO, either 2 of 6 batteries! So frustrating!

Where can I get 1 charger and 4 batteries?!?!

The 1 hour quick charger is pretty expensive... SGD45 for a charger with 2 Eneloops.

been using the same 4 since tamiya mini 4wd time and till now no problems.

for reference, tried the eneloop and recyko of friends during tamiya race but like no power like that compared to other rechargeables like the ones i have and GP...maybe output power is different. Normally if have any event i would just charge the batteries the night before just in case sop to me how long it can retain its full charge across the months is not important. But one thing for sure after some time of usage, i think these batteries give my flash an extra boost in brightness.

gp recyko 2100 mah, sanyo eneloop 2000 mah iirc. the 2700 mah confirm better peak output but discharges faster, cause now those low discharge batts still dun have 2700mah capacity iirc.

From the chart we compare recyko and eneloop is probably no difference in discharge rate but issue with recycko is the finishing not as good which prolly equates to a lower retail price. Now all my 8 recycko wrap with scoth tape. lol

I use GP ReCyko+ for household and hobby applications (batt powered cordless screwdrivers, R/C car controllers, etc). No problems with it so far. I used a set charged "many months ago" (cannot remember when was last charge) and it still produced regular torque on the screwdriver. The only problem I have with the GPs is that they seem to be *slightly* fatter than other AA-sized batts, so if the batt chamber is just a perfect fit for normal batts, you might need a bit of force to squeeze or pull-out the ReCyko+s.

I use PowerEx Imedions for my X700 film camera motor-drive, and PowerEx/GP 2700 NiMHs for flashguns. As long as I charge the NiMH batts the night before, it can sustain an entire day's worth of shooting (avg 500+ flashes?) without the need to change batt.

No experience with Sanyo Eneloop, though.

anyone can comment on this ? shd i charge it again once the led is off ?

No experience for both the brand as i only used Sanyo, Sony and PowerEx. So far happy with their performance as i need higher capacity instead of slow discharge feature.

Maybe i shuold buy a set of enloop and try... ^^

I don't think yours is eneloop, it is just the normal 2700 mAh Ni-MH while eneloop is a hybrid with low self-discharging characteristic...

It's eneloop for me but I won't mind trying GP. Anyway, I seldom use my flash so much that I get energizers instead of charging my batteries. The eneloop must be lurking somewhere...
