Hi,
a noob question, the nex f2.8 samyang 8mm is essentially the same optics as the f3.5 on alpha right? Thinking of getting a la-ea1 so other then size and the extra 1 stop there would be no different right?
Any bro staying in north area going to buy it today or tomorrow?
Can help me buy and I pay you a nominal sum on top of the selling price for your efforts?..
Sms me 90472101 to discuss k..
Thanks

check with SGcamerastores. gotta pre-order. all stocks sold-out even before it reaches the store. 2nd or 3rd batches already.
Just collected mine:
Hard to say.
F2.8 is 10 elements in 8 groups.
F3.5 is 10 elements in 7 groups.
F3.5 version could use on SLR/SLT.
It may also be used on Full Format if the lens hood is destructively removed to hide it from frame. Didnt try this, just read it off the web.
F2.8 version only for E-mount
both has 30cm Minimum Focus Distance.
From the look & feel of it, the barrel design & build quality of F2.8 are improvements over F3.5.
It is also very much smaller. Lens cap is 65mm diameter. Lens hoods is 60mm diameter.
Length is 55.8mm. It is about 2.1x LA-EA1 length(26.6mm).
F3.5 version alone is 77mm. Add LA-EA, about 100mm.
F2.8 has a new designed for lens cap catch mechanism. Now no more abrasion marks on inside of lens hood.
Need to do a side by side test to see what is the image quality comparison between both & if the Field coverage is same or better.
But just by the look & feel, F2.8 is very small & cute lens. Definitely a keeper.
If don't need to use on Alpha, just go for the F2.8 version. Very portable & cheaper.
Last week I went..
They told me there is stock but when I went they said no more..
Asked them to reserve somehow..
Very angry..
That's why I lazy to go down..
the logistics is a bit messy over phone n online. i called n used facebook to message... they got mixed up. so went down to order & pay deposit over the counter last week. better this way.

Field of view seems similar.
Lens coatings are different. One looks blue, the other looks orange.
also.. it is so small and wide that I keep getting my fingers in the frame when focusing... so gotta watch out where the index finger & thumb are before snapping.
most likely will sell the bigger one after some more tests. portability is priority for me.

gotta watch out for 2GB usb re-flashed as 16GB. Bought 16GBs and got 2GBs that showed as 16GB on notebook. Luckily I used a software to test, scolded them upside down and get them replaced.
Maybe can find in SLS.
