Samyang 7.5mm Fisheye!

Resurrection of this thread

Just picked up a 7.5mm as well fr SGCam as they having their GSS promo supposedly. Fun lens to use but i have no idea how to use fisheye yet

Not to mention so many shots have my fingers in them...lens is REALLY wide.

Where is "SGCam"?

I sold my Samyang for the Lumix. I love taking advantage of the fisheye effect for distorted close ups. Both lenses have good near focus ability, but the Samyang's lack of af makes focusing truly impossible. Fingers get caught all the time while focusing.

Sharpness wise, my Lumix was a tad better.

How much did you pay for the LUMIX G FISHEYE 8mm / F3.5?

Bought mine @ 400 from SGCam - during their so called sale. Wait a bit, seems they have that promo quite often. If not, go for BnS :)

No way I would ever buy BnS in Singapore, prices are too close to street prices. ;-)

I got it at this "promo" price leh, anyways. glad I did otherwise miss some good travels trips:p was waiting bns for a good month before took the plunge. no looking back since. Its small, light enough to be in the travel bag.

I just got the Lumix 8mm, listed at RM 2900+ , bargain to Rm 2350 using credit card .

Does someone have a photo of the silver version on a black OM-D? ^^

Since I don't have silver E-M5, I must say silver lenses look stunning on black!!! :bsmilie:

Great, thanks mate! Yup, silver looks good on black. I think the 45mm F1.8 looks better on the black OM-D as well. :-)

A couple of fisheye shots to share of this little fun lens:

Can do portraits!

Of course due to wideness, you can get alot more than what your eyes can imagine. Mount it on and be amazed how wide it gets...

Cool, thanks!
How is the focusing? I mean is the ring smooth enough to make it an easy experience? :-)

Not the best, but useable, but really, put it to f5.6, from 0.8m onwards, focus to infinity, everything will be sharp. Literally in PNS mode, i seldom use the manual focusing ring except portraits very near like above 1st shot, apart from that, no issue! & the corners are sharp enough for a fun lens. The advantage of M43 sensor;)

I have the big bro of your little samyang FE yep I normally put it between 0.4-0.8m it's sweet spot. sadly cant use it on my m4/3 body due to my adaptor getting a newer adaptor :-)

I tried the 7.5mm today on a GX1, a colleague bought it in black yesterday. The focus ring might not be as smooth as the one from a Noctilux-M but it's smooth enough, usable and much better than I expected after a few reports.

This lens is fun. Can't wait to get out and take more shots.
