(Sorry, its HDR-PJ660EV)

I am looking to find a camera w stabilizing ability and was recommended the Sony HDR-PJ660VE by Rodney of BambooPictures.com. I couldnt find any good quality video review on the product and i went down to the shop to view and test it. As i am new to camcorders and more to DSLR, i was blown away by the sharpness of camcorders.

Hope these videos are useful for you too.

The official website and product specs is here:

Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your holiday shots! BTW the ariel shots in Ah Boys to Men were shot with the NX30, the exact body as the PJ660 but with pro-audio inputs.

woah! cool. Good to know.

I am looking to some aerial solutions as well. Looking at this because it's light!

Saw a video post of this handycam on a quadcopter. looks good!

That's some serious stabilization going on. Smooooth man.

I had a hard time convincing even the Sony Gallery to detach their camera from the security cable. Finally when it was done, i was able to get the sales person to try simulate a running scene to see how good the stabilizer is.

I tried Rodney's one of his camcorders with stabilizers in it...I forgot what the model...Maybe Rodney could highlight it...

I really fly the camcorder with one of my fingers! Way way much better than my DSLR on a Motion Pro...

It was a NX30, essentially a PJ660 with XLR attachment.

Hi all,

I saw on eBay (seller: ValueBasket) selling:
1) 660v PAL - -$1259
2) 660ve -$1409

Wld anyone know the difference? Both has 3 year warranty.

Alan photo quoted me $1488 w extra battery and says Sony warranty is 1 year.. But can't remb which model it is.

E suffix on camera usually stands for Europe.

I read about the specs for PG790, 660 and 430. The extended zoom range, from 17x, 20x and 55x but MP are 24, 20 and 8.9. So, are the zoom still the same in the end?

I think the 660 and 790 share the same sensor size and lenses (10x optical). So optically they are identical. The MP for the PJ790 could be higher so it can support a further extended zoom range than the 660 which is enabled through sensor cropping and using the extra MP for stills. The 430 likely has a much smaller sensor size hence its 55x entended zoom.
