Dear Rashkae,

I had already edited the post... as per requested.

My intention for my post is just to share. Anyway this is a forum where we 'share' info. Thought it was 'OK'.
Sorry if any of the people here are the 'representative' of SONY and got offended my post. Anyway just like what one of the bro here said, its nothing secretive about the prices. You can just get the quote from all these reputable shops via email, phone or even walk in. And the prices are all about the same. (perhaps about 10 -30 bucks different?) If Canon and Nikon are very transparent about their prices... why not SONY??

Just my 2 cents worth of thought...

I actually noted the transition about last year July. In March 2008, I bought 50mm from Japan and it's China made. I came there again in July, and it's Japan made. So the transition should be happening last year.

There shouldn't be any difference. The Japan made isn't a guarantee of better quality either, in one of the unit (new) that I bought, there was a big dust inside the lens. I get another unit instead. Both are made in Japan.

I don't expect the different in quality (IQ) for both model.

Just went to check my 50 f1.4 after seeing this thread and it's 'mic' too :o
Luckily got it with the a100 at package price

Hopefully the price hike won't be too steep :sweatsm:
hi bro, how to check the country of manufacture? thanks.

On the lens itself, near the rear cap, there is label either CHINA or JAPAN. That's how you can check the manufacturing country.

Just want to check if i want to take picture in low light condition w/o flash is the 50mmF1.4 the lens to buy ?

It's a definite yes...The color are good too. Worth every penny on this lens.

Mainly depends on exactly how "low light" are you referring to, and if you need a shallow or a deep DOF. If it's for a landscape/city skyline shot, you should be using a tripod and long exposures.

Just found out that sony in tamopines one is having 10% sale on all alpha accessories and lens, which from what i know would be the cheapest in town. CP don't usually quote lower than rrp for sony, MS will quote slightly lower, and John will stick to a 8% discount. So that 10% is really a steal. but it's very limited. But still, for some lens, even after discount, its still more ex than the pre-price hike

my a200 is made in malaysia. =.= and its halal. LOL.

Oh well, some brands have tomyam taste as well...
