safe place to buy Nikon

(I wonder if this is the correct place to place this thread)

I am going to buy my first Nikon DSLR, D80...and I found just the body for 1200 SGD at Max Mobile & electronics (Lucky Plaza)

how safe is to buy cameras there? does anyone knows this store? Is at a good price?

I do not know if it is gray market or not, that's why I wonder is this a safe place? if anyone had experience with this shop to share would be great, otherwise I just go to Lord's @ lucky plaza. at least they are listed in the nikon authorized webpage.

yes, I agree. I am still doing some research calling some shops, and the cheapest so far is Lords (1300 SGD)

I will suggest not to buy from those unknown shop in Lucky Plaza. Though I didn't make my purchase over there, but many of my friend got cheated due to the low price and found out the set was actually a grey set.

Lords not only a Authorised Dealer. They are the biggest dealer for Nikon based on the fact that they take the most goods from Nikon Singapore. As such, their prices are the best cos due to the qty they take, they get special prices from Nikon.

In Lucky Plaza I only trust Lords. The rest shops is as good as trying their 'luck' on tourist.

Go back again, and ask there:
1) Is it include GST?
2) Can they give all in included list? Or you need to buy included accessory from them?
3) Is it warranty set or grey set?
4) Do they have stock?

Don't pay anything (don't let them touch your nets, CC, or money) before everything in order.

I go to simlim now during lunch time, if not found a better price I will go straight to Lords. and I will follow your hint about the James dude.

I can also vouch for Lords at Lucky Plaza...and I'm writing from Australia!

I bought some stuff from them when I was in S'pore in Nov and was pleased with the prices and service. Even managed to find me the original sales brochure for the D50 and gave it to me!

I remember the salesman even led me all the way out to the building foyer to show me where a good dimsum place was!

Yeah, go to reputable shops where most CS members patronised. U should try Alan Photo, MS Color, Cathay Photo, etc. They are all reputable shops and u can get a honest deal there without the fear of being fleeced.
