I have used a few Canon underwater casing, Ixus V2, A95, G7 and G11. They are cheap and good. There is only a single O-ring to maintain.

Usual retail price in Singapore is 290 - 320. I got mine from Amazon as I was also buying something else. Excluding shipping, the casing is only about 240.

Regards

The last time i checked at cannon, its going for below $310 and they have stock for it. Most other places quoted higher for the original casing. AP quoted lower but usually no stock. Addition info is that the spare O-ring will cost around $25.

For a S90 I will suggest go for the Ikelite housing, its only 100 plus more which is of better build to Canon ones. You won't go wrong with that.

I have the ikelite housing and it has it's pros and cons as well compared to the canon housing.

Pros: 67mm threaded port which accepts add-on macro/WA wet lens without the need for an adaptor (adaptor will cost about $100 or more so there's the difference in the cost already) The ikelite housing also has thicker plastic wall making the housing more durable. The shutter release is also a lot better than the canon housing which is a 'mushy' button control. The housing has more internal space compared to the canon one which may or may not be a good thing depending on your likes. (more internal space = more space to put silica packs or more space = more bulky)

Cons: There's a fiddly gear you have to fit onto the front jog dial of the camera for it to be used on the ikelite housing. The gear wheel is designed in such a way that it's not free spinning and has limited amount of clicks you can go in either clockwise or anti-clockwise direction. The shutter release although better is still a bit still cos of the spring, i've removed it and the shutter release action is a lot more sensitive now. Also the ikelite housing has 2 screw threads below and is made for an ikelite tray. Most other OEM trays you'll need a bit of modification to fit the ikelite housing.

Price wise i believe the ikelite housing is a good buy as it's not a lot more exp than the canon one. You can check out scubacam as they have a camera+housing deal for the S90/ikelite housing combo.

Ikelite sells the neccessary screws and adaptor pieces. better to get the original stuff for convenience.

besides the ikelite and canon casing, are there any other u/w housings for the S90? preferably one that allows ttl flash as well.

thank you!

apologies if this qn has been posted before, search function aint working atm.

Provided you are willing to pay for a metal casing.....

TTL flash?? What do you mean??? In manual mode for the G-series and S90 the flash on the camera is not TTL.

After my experience with the Canon's casing for G11, I think you should take the following factors into consider too:
a) Does the casing allow you to make use of all the features on the camera? For the Canon casing, I cant change aperture and shutter speed underwater because I cant control the dial.
b) Does the casing allow adding wide angle port or macro port easily? For my Canon casing, there is only 1 brand, Dyron that has wide angle port. For macro, I have to use screwed on which will limit my wide angle option underwater.

oops typo. i dont know about the s90, have not used it but the other modes av/tv in G11 seem to allow ttl.

what i meant was, is there an u/w housing for the s90 that is similar to the ikelite housing for the G11 that has a flash sync cord? so that the flash is not dependable on the built in flash of the camera? not sure if im making sense but ive seen people place an optical cable in front of the camera flash which would then trigger the strobe. i would prefer one that has a direct cord of some sort....

ty!

a) you can change aperture and shutter speed on the canon housing. Just press the shortcut button and then press the left/right button on top of the scroll wheel to change either aperture or shutter speed.

b) for macro adaptors, there are a couple of OEM brands available from 10 Bar or Fun-In Taiwan in addition to dyron. For wide angle there are push-on WA adaptors from fantasea amongst other brands i believe.

There's actually plenty of support for the G10/11 canon housings due to it's popularity.
