FinePix S5 Pro Firmware (camera control software) Update Ver.1.08

:dunno:

Which Fuji site you r in?:dunno:

You might want to clear your browser's cache. Here is a screenshot from the website:

just to check ..
current my version no is 1.04
want to upgrade to 1.08

but the site show
Applicable model: FinePix S5 Pro
•Detail of the update

The firmware (Ver.1.06 to Ver.1.08) update incorporates the following issues.
When MB-D200 Multi-Power Battery Pack (introduced by Nikon) is used with S5Pro, sometimes the camera may be stopped suddenly (e.g. freeze) due to the contact failure between FinePix S5 Pro and MB-D200.
Cf. Contact failure is not occurred regularly. Even with contact failure in a short period FinePix S5 Pro will be frozen in some case.
For removing the trouble, new FinePix S5 Pro firmware has been established.

The firmware (Ver.1.04 to Ver.1.06) update incorporates the following issues.
1. Upgrade of Barcode-reading function
•[BCD (Barcode) MULTI READ] function is added in [IMAGE COMMENT] menu.
If this function is selected, the characters (in the EXIF tag) will not be overwritten but added continuously at each barcode reading. In this case, the user comment already typed in will be erased.

so do i need to upgrade twice or once ?
cos i only found ONE file in http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/s5pro/index.html#windows

TIA

You only need to update once from 1.04 --> 1.08. The release history is just showing you what has changed from version to version.

Am I right to say that firmware 1.08 will also incorporate those "updates/upgrades" in the previous version? I missed the update on 1.06?:embrass:

Yes, it's the same concept as those Windows service packs, they are cumulative.

Alright, I might be kind of slow here..
but just want to say that those who have not upgraded to latest firmware 1.09 should do so ASAP.
I just confirmed a flickr user's finding - the 1.09 is indeed MUCH sharper than 1.08 firmware.
I setup a tripod, same setting, same focus point, same composition and took a shot before and after FW upgrade.

The most amazing thing is, the noise remains the same. Which makes me wonder, what takes them so long to fix this 'softness' isue. Now it seems that the Fuji is back on track and can fight on the sharpness issue, that had once plagued it. I am glad they didn't abandon the customers and are still doing their best to maximize their camera's potential :)

Also, I discovered that after I upgraded to firmware version 1.09 my lenses (both AFD and AFS) focus lock-on much faster, and they don't seek as much.

wow that's a bit like getting a new cam .. lol.
guess will do more testing in days to come.. funny why didn't the fuji website write all these down?
Instead they just stated some trivial/less-important fix.

Mine already update. Thanks to Photobum for giving links to latest firmware update.

Firmware v1.11 is out.
The firmware (Ver.1.09 to Ver.1.11) update incorporates the following issue.
1. An issue that, in some rare circumstances, caused the battery indicator to blink, regardless of actual battery charge, has been resolved.

Here is the link: www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/s5pro/fupd.html

finally solve this dreadful prob.
I remember I posted something about this iirc, and I even went doen service centre but they couldn't find anything wrong.
Initially I thought the 3rd party was causing it but even after using all original it still persists
dunno what took fuji so long to release such crucial fix.. imagine u r shooting important shot and the batt blinks on u...

thanz sathea for the info,
glad yr problem solved zero,
hmm good news, fujifilm with latest firmware

cheers
