my friend just got his S30 repair @ canon services centre
Reason: damage lens coating due to unprofessional cleaning
canon managed to replace the internal s30 body totally with a new set (including the lens), leaving only the external hardcasing unchanged.
Observations
- usb rubber cover design changed
- response is faster, startup and closing time is shorter
- internal battery latch cannot hold the battery well
- autofocus at telephoto seems faster
image wise looks slightly sharper and more vivid including hotpixels night shots
