Any S2 pro users here used this combi to overcome the portriat grip problem? Read from some websites that some users use it so that the CR123 batts need not be used. Does the shutter release work in this combi or there's a need for a modification? Any pics to show with the mb-16 attached to a S2 pro?

Do a search in the FUji SLR forum on Dpreview. There're links to a website with pix.
You need to shave the raised edges on the topside back part of the MB16 flat. No need to use a Dremel tool. The plastic is soft enough to be whittled by a paper cutter. Do a fitting before you shave everything off.
Dont bother trying to cut the white plastic cap to push it down the vertical post like shown in the website linked from Dpreview. It's easier using some padded tape around the bottom of that post (This is to push against the contacts in the fuji battery bay).
The MB16 will shift a little when attached to the S2 because of the shaved flat top. I use 3M padded double sided tape to keep it snug.
Total time - 30mins. Works great.
Note: You cant power the S2 from the main batteries with a batteryless MB16 attached. The vertical post is pushing against the CR123 bay contacts so the camera thinks there are (dead) batteries in there.

Hmm so other than the benefits of not using the CR123s there seems to be no other advantages since there is no shutter release button on the MB16. The S2 pro body already seems like its got the vertical grip built in. Any way of incorporating the vertical shutter release? I shoot more portriats and I dun want to end up having a crooked wrist 
Thanks for the comments clown and dogbot, struggling to decide between a D100 and S2pro. Its a war of price vs functionality.
what i can say is that practically,
with an S2pro, the cons are there's no vertical grip, and it's super bulky. but what you'll get is the best jpg cam around with excellent skin tones.
about the D100, i'll say it's the 1/180 flash sync and the vert grip that attracts me the most.

for handling and power issues, the D100, to me, wins hands down...
image wise, i dont really know but tends to skew towards the s2 when shot in Jpeg mode...
if you shoot in raw mainly, then go for the D100... simply because nikon capture 3 software might just be the easiest around...
