RX10

Any bros got RX10 here? Any reviews. I'm itching!! :)

Been playing with it in Sony shops and very impressed.

I guess I'm done with lugging lens to travelling but still prefer big grips. Even OMD I find it small for me. In any case, looking at Pana FZ200, Oly Stylus 1 (sian... similar body as OMD) and Rx10. Price is the only thing standing my way.

I'm done with bridge cameras of the sort that Panasonic, etc churns out... those with 30-40x zoom and tiny sensors... after looking at the pictures... I get heart pain...

Even when shooting with a NEX-6... I still find the image quality not as good compared to my A900...

I think the zoom range is quite limiting for the size of the overall package. I would rather accept a smaller sensor and get a longer constant aperture zoom instead like the FZ200.

How big a zoom do you need? Beyond 120 mm, you will have to use a tripod... I have 40x zoom bridge camera from Fujifilm... the camera is much smaller and lighter than a DSLR... and that's the problem. The camera shake at max zoom is next to impossible to use. Max range is 450mm equivalent. So a bit of waste of time if you're thinking of having a 400-1000mm max zoom range...

Yeah I know. We thought the same a few years back even on those smaller sensors, but now they gave us even faster one than we expected :) Who knows what's gonna happen in the next year or two.

There are physical limits... unless there's a complete paradigm shift in the way we envision picture taking and therefore designing cameras.

Similar thoughts, was looking at Rx10, fz200 and stylus 1. Inevitably it's a compromise between iq and reach and size. Though the iq are pretty good for these cameras under good lighting, it's still not what I am used to on bigger sensors.

I went to Wisma today to give the RX10 another longer go. Not sure why, feeling it for the forth time, the camera doesnt seems that much bigger than other bridge camera like stylus 1 and Fz200. No doubt, it is bigger la , due to the lens , and the body grip.

The first few times I had problems with the zoom until I read review that the zoom ring can be set to zoom in and out based on fixed focal like 24, 35, 50, 75 etc. That would reduce the long zoom ring turning.

The aperture ring click on/off feature really works well for video , changing aperture and zooming in and out is extremely smooth.

Lens at 2.8 is sharp but coming from the level of sharpness I am used to on my A7 lenses, it is considered soft, the dreamy kind of softness. Stepping down to 3.5, the lens becomes really tack sharp. Overall, a good all in one camera. And after this session of handling, I decided bridge cameras are not for me . Not because the RX10 is a lousy camera, but I think if I really need a long zoom, I think the Hv50x compact zoom will be a cheaper and better alternative. But for now, I shall milk my A7 for all possibilities of shooting first.

Saw that just now. Quite keen to go and give it a go. Just need to iron out my schedule.. Will they really have ~12 sets of RX10 for us to use?

heh u can ask in the post. I suppose they should ? =) and then sell u the used RX10 cheap thereafter haha

If it comes cheap, I would surely take!! It feels very overpriced right now.

The RX10 is about the same price as the Panasonic 35-100 zoom lens and goes from 24-200. It is HALF the cost of both the 12-35 and 35-100 zooms combined. In a sense, it's a bargain. Note that the RX10 sensor is the same as the RX100II so the GX7 sensor and RX10 sensor are pretty close in ability....

it is hard to sell off RX10 .. GX7 easier to sell

Went. They had 6 sets for outdoor shoot (each pair of photographers shared 1 camera) and 8 for indoor shoot (15-min segment of 8 photographers each).

How was the performance of RX10 for the indoor shoots without flash? Is it better than RX100?

Price is a bit on the high, especially that it about 2x of the price of RX100.

Well thats because the Lens is 28-200mm F2.7 Zeiss ? Low light qualities would be the same as RX100 MK2. Which I find a tad better than RX100 when pixel peeped

Since your nick is bbb08, i suggest that you BBB right now :)

indeed I bought :)

Now still learning how to max its potential. Indeed an ideal all-in-one camera.

thanks for the link! Gold award! Not bad. One of the plus already tried, silent shutter which helped me took the sample pics I posted :)
