RX10

Looking at the lenses Samsung and Panasonic have on their latest p&s DCs, I don't see why Sony can't make the lens as small or maybe just slightly bigger than the current lens on RX100 :) Anyway, we can always hope or dream mah ;)

And there is no way I'd carry a monster like the RX10, but I'm sure many would love to have an all-in-one camera like that. It's good to see Sony give us different options for different needs/interest.
Samsung? Which constant aperture zooms in particular are you talking about?

RX-10 is another intersting camera by Sony. It maybe bigger than RX-100 with the same sensor but smaller than APS-C DSLR.
Where in the world there is a camera with big sensor and ZEISS from 24mm to 200mm @ f/2.8 constant.

After having RX-100, I find it too small for my hands but love the picture output especially low light.
RX-10 would be another good camera for family tours, trip & outing. RX-100 will be the backup now.

For serious work, it is a good backup that is small enough to put in your bag.

It is Zeiss 24-200mm lens

Same thoughts. The constant F2.8 Zeiss zoom lens is superb in value, if it is super sharp lens, combined with the RX100 sensor!

It is just the next F828 with a bit bigger sensor and modern software. The price same like the F828. The R1 did;nt sell well cos
the zoom is to short. So the RX10 come in. If it is using the AP-C sensor .It is a good deal. I got the RX100 .what different it make
beside the longer zoom??

Anyone bought RX-10 during the pre-order ?
What free gift it comes with ? :dunno:

Reportedly a better processor, built-in 3-stop ND filter and a host of other features

even with the superb constant f2.8 , the growth in size is

I think the zoom range is quite limiting for the size of the overall package. I would rather accept a smaller sensor and get a longer constant aperture zoom instead like the FZ200.

The RX10 is about the same price as the Panasonic 35-100 zoom lens and goes from 24-200. It is HALF the cost of both the 12-35 and 35-100 zooms combined. In a sense, it's a bargain. Note that the RX10 sensor is the same as the RX100II so the GX7 sensor and RX10 sensor are pretty close in ability....

Anymore RX10 users? It was going for US$937 on Adorama a couple of days ago, as compared to ~S$1,599 for a local warranty set. Woah.

Pretty expensive but looks just right for me... I just got a NEX6... and I am wondering if I should try the RX10 now... hai... I find the 16-50 very limiting in zoom range on the NEX6... must get my hands on this RX10 at a showroom... any idea if Wisma carries a copy? Just to see if the size fits me or not... certainly smaller than my A900 and lighter... but just as nice to use?

there's one at Wisma that's where we get to play with all the gear :)

Kei's right. Specifically , the RX10 is available for u to play with at the Wisma branch.

They look so different:

A bit too huge for me, but I guess many guys would love it.

Would've been great if they could give us an RX200 with a 24-100/1.8-2.8 lens in the same body as RX100.

LOL... you are asking for the impossible. Zoom lens f2.8???? In that small package? Wait long long...

Sure, you like small sensors? You can't have your cake and eat it.

There are always trade offs in everything. It is just not mechanically possible to have big sensor and small fast af lenses.

Any bros got RX10 here? Any reviews. I'm itching!! :)

Been playing with it in Sony shops and very impressed.

I guess I'm done with lugging lens to travelling but still prefer big grips. Even OMD I find it small for me. In any case, looking at Pana FZ200, Oly Stylus 1 (sian... similar body as OMD) and Rx10. Price is the only thing standing my way.

Since your nick is bbb08, i suggest that you BBB right now :)

Tried the camera at the Funan showroom. Size is quite ok. Quite light too for what it's capable of. Focus speed is good. I was trying it under artifical light aiming at dull monotone surfaces. The AF will always latch onto a high contrast border and focus the camera very quickly. It's almost instant. In good light, it's instant. It even focuses on the images of the 4K TVs on display...

Ergonomics are pretty good as well. Most buttons fall to hand. Not difficult to get use to. But the same silly issue of not being able to use certain buttons for certain functions in certain modes still rear its ugly head here and there.

There was a strange glitch also while I explored the camera. I put the camera to A priority mode. But none of the dials could change the aperture value. The salesgirl was rather surprised. In fact, this occurred only after I had changed the aperture value to 4.0. We changed modes, and went through the menu but nothing worked. Subsequently, a reboot of the camera put this right. But it's quite unusual... might be contact issue, or a software glitch or whatever... note that this might be one off... but this was a brand new display set.

But there's one huge minus - deal breaker in my books... the zoom speed is impossibly slow... in fact, using the zoom ring is even slower than using the zoom rocker switch... that's just plain stupid... I had to twist the zoom ring about 10-15 times before it was about 2/3 way to the maximum zoom... three twists of the zoom ring left the lens at 35mm (started from 24mm). At this rate, the zoom lens is pretty useless since you're most likely to miss your photo opportunity. You've got to try to believe the zoom speed... it's worse that many point & shoot cameras in my opinion. In fact, the 16-50 power zoom for the Nex zooms much faster... (comparing the same change in zoom range)

At $1600, with that lousy zoom... it's bad. Sony has to upgrade the motor and/or the gearing ratio to make this a viable superzoom camera...

On the other hand, the service provided by the salesgirl was good. Attentive and relatively knowledgeable. I don't know if pricing is negotiable there. I was actually there to look at the Sony Tablet Z... the RX10 was a side adventure actually... :)
