DOH!!! :bsmilie::bsmilie:

BUY CANIKON!!

*Quickly run away & hide*

The day I buy a Canon SLR is the day there isn't anything else (used or new) remaining on the planet. I'll probably end up using my phone camera. :bsmilie:

Before I bought the E-1, I looked at Pentax, Nikon, and Canon.

A few more days to go, and either this thread will explode into a spectacular celebration or we will see many items go on sale in Buy and Sell.

Whatever happens, I hope Olympus will see that much is riding on the new flagship camera, and in this case, what will happen at Photokina will either be :

1. Olympus showing a new flagship camera that will blow the minds of the photographers out there.

2. Show a wooden/clay mock up and no further specs revealed until a later day (yet again).

3. Show more "shadows" and talk about "possible specs and features" that will be announced at a later date.

4. Announces the end of Four Thirds because it is better to focus on the money making Pen series of cameras and announces that the E-Pro1 will be taking over the flag model which is a modular system, accepting both regular Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds lenses, but specs will be sketchy with details to be announced at a later date.

Whatever it is going to be, I am still having faith in the company that has the most brilliant engineering minds together since I was a kid.

Come on, Olympus, show us something to help us keep the faith in you.

Two more (or three) days to go... keep us all happy here... else we are really going to consider going to Pentax... ha ha ha... just kidding.

Wah microcosm, cannot lah, I cannot go back to 3/2 ratio aspect liao. I accustomed to 4/3 ratio, so I have to move to other cameras.

I believe that they're quite impressive. However, like any group of engineers trying to perfect something, they never seem to perfect the cut off point when things are just right. They often end up a bit too far or a bit too short and miss that sweet spot where people are buying.

Going too far in the scientific world sometimes leads to breakthroughs, but it sometimes leads to mental breakdown. A remember some company where the engineers were going to make something "more perfect" and I always wonder what happened to them. ;)

No worries about that one... buy sticky tape and mark off the viewfinder. Should not be a problem. :bsmilie:

Quite true about that one.

Olympus showing a new flagship camera that will blow the minds of the photographers out there? Its subjective here. In term of out of the world specification or breakthrough in image quality?

Judging from the various rumor mills and the follow-on comments, the following reactions would be plausible:

1. This tread will explode into a spectacular celebration. [+10 pages from moment the product is announced]

2. This tread will explode into a spectacular curse and swear non-celebration. [+20 pages from moment the product is announced]

:sweatsm:

As for the Buy/Sell: Olympus Equipment forum... ;p

Alamak, then I'll need sticky tape of different colours to mark 4:3, 3:2, 5:4, 1:1 and 16:9 on my viewfinder. :bsmilie:

There exist 2 options. One is to go low end & use P&S instead, they r all still 43 aspect ratio. The other is to go hi end like microcosm, MFs also use 43 aspect ratio. BUY! BUY! BUY!

So Oly now is going the trend of all talk no action, maybe they juz became a member or fellow of the NATO. HAHAHAHA!!! If the so called confirmed leak specs r what it really is... i'm sure its going the B&S way. Basically its juz a E3 with video, higher rez LCD & extra slot for SD card, i think the expectations is very hi for this E5. Very fragile & critical if Oly still want to be in the DSLR bizz.

B&S as in B or S? :bsmilie:

In terms of specification, what would you have expected of the new flagship?

I still didn't have to use Canon equipment to see it. :bsmilie:

For what it's worth, I'd bought my adoptive mum two different Canon point-and-shoot cameras and I've a Canon i9900 printer and a Canon all-in-one. I just like their SLRs.

I've tripped over the line a few times, especially when I was designing a new type of user interface for big computers and their dumb terminals. I've specifically stayed out of the spotlight since those times.

The latest rumor I know while attending mass this morning for E-5 is:

Those are great specifications for 2008.

The weight sounds more like the E-1 since it was 660g.

The difference in specs between D300 and D300s isn't much to be honest.
